one part left over...where does it go ?

been having a hard time lately with the XX, here, here, here and here. New water pump in, fuel regulator, test ride and then found this part on the floor:

It happened after I put the lower fairings on, does anyone know where this goes ?

Thanks for the help gentlemen, here is a picture of my motorcycle.

Did you remove the front fairing, too? That looks like a rubber bushing from the front fairing stay.

Hey Red Rider, thank you for your answer.

The bushing does look like something from the fairing, it has a witness mark and is oblong, it also clean, like it wasn't near the engine.

I did previously remove everything (windshield too) except for the front fairing, it did get bumped around though trying to get the other pieces back on.

I'll take another look at it, I really appreciate the information.

Did you take your gas tank off or lift the front of the tank up? There are two grommets like that on the bolts that hold down the front of my gas tank. I know this because I dropped it and the metal spacer down into the engine the first time I was removing my tank. That was a fun hour of searching for those things.

I'm not familiar with the fairings on an XX, but Honda uses a similar rubber grommet on the side panels on a 929, too.

BigBassTurd and Red Rider, thank you again very much.

I'll go check again right now and post a picture if I find it.

Re: one part left over...where does it go ?

Hey, I found it!

I tore it all back apart again and reviewed everything, only to find out it was a cruel trick of coincidence:

http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x...s/DSCF2617.jpg

I didn't make a mistake, it was a part of the rear fairing that fell out just when I finished with the front.

Ain't that a kick in the head ?

Thanks very much for your help Red Rider and BigBassTurd, it helped to know I wasn't the only one.
