| Tire fitment question My buddy has an 1100xx and is in need of some tires. I have a set of Michelins Pilot Sports 120/70/17 front / 190/50/17 rear with 600 miles on them. I was wondering if they would fit the xx? I know that the xx has a smaller rear rim than my 954, but will the 190/50/17 fit on the 5.5 rim? My buddy uses his xx mostly as a commuter vehicle, so it's mostly superslab riding.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Rick

Rick | The Michelin web site showes a 180/55 as the proper tire, that 190/50 gotta be pretty darn close. Might put a little error in the spedo if the diameter is slightly differnt (assuming the spedo pickup is is in the countershaft like a fireblade) I'd run it assuming it doesnt rub anything. |

| Re: Tire fitment question It will work fine. It will give the tire a bit more "oval" profile. As long as the 180 isnt close to rubbing the swingarm, go for it. I used to put 180's and even a 190 on my VFR in a pinch, and it took a 170.

| Re: Tire fitment question I suppose I'll give this a shot also. I've been around to the local bike shops this morning and no one has a 180/55 020 (or 010) in stock. I've got a 190/50 010 that only has 700 miles on it that came off my 929. I'll post up as to how it works out.
BTW... I'm still going to use the 010/020 combo on my next trip (talked about in another thread). This is just a stop gap to tide me over, I'm planning a BRP run in a month. |
