| GP shift for F4? My buddy has a 2000 F4 and wants to change the shift pattern to GP style. I did it to my 929 (he tried that and loved it) with the VFR lever, but I'm not sure if that'll work on the F4. Any thoughts? |

| Re: GP shift for F4? Here is what the VFR shifter mod looks like on an F4i. It may not be free, but I like the looks of it better than rotating the lever. It was about $35 for all the parts (and shipping). |

| Re: GP shift for F4? For a long while I was looking for this type of mod so I could keep the front sprocket cover on (I hate a dirty bike) but the lack of creativity on my part led me to flipping the stock lever so I get the desired effect but sacrificing a proper finish. It's all good now cuz the F4i's a track bike but if this mod works on my 97 Blade I'm all over it..
thanks to those involved in this post |

| Re: GP shift for F4? You don't need those parts for an F4/F4i apparently. You just rotate the the stock parts... See above.
But, if that's the way you want to go, then yes, those are the 3 parts you will need. |

| Re: GP shift for F4? I tried the VFR shifter on my f4i today. It seemed to lack feel or the feeling was not as crisp as the stock setup. I guess you loose some leverage whith the shifter connected right to the shift (not sur ewhat to call it) shaft thingy....
It felt like my brain was in a not at first. then i shifted in the wrong uh right well the rpms went way up and i got some major whell hope.
Anyone else notice the difference? not sure if i'm going to keep it this way or not. |

| Re: GP shift for F4? My Sidi boots are the problem or the VFR shifter is to short for me. I am only using the tip of my toes to shift. I'm gonna switch back to normal. |

| Re: GP shift for F4? its one of those things where you really have to give it some time to grow on you. when I first put the vfr shifter on my bike I had to make a very conscious effort to shift the correct direction. now I get one someone elses bike and I have to make that effort to shift the traditional way.

| Re: GP shift for F4? I checked out the distance of the stock shifter to the VFR mod and found that the VFR shifter is about an inch short of the stock placement. I did like banging the gears down when i was taking off.
Any one need a new VFR shifter? |

| Re: GP shift for F4? the vfr mod would be very screwy if you get rearsets or rearset risers. Mine are 2" up and 2" back .. so that lever would be way off .. I would just flip the lever and be done with it. Zero cost and a lot more adjustable. |

| Re: GP shift for F4? On ebay, I found an aftermarket shift arm for the 954 that was intended to convert that bike to GP shift. It fit perfect on my F4i and I'm loving the GP shift. I can't imagine ever going back. |
