Advice needed in general and on F4i

I should be going back to work within the next 2 weeks and have started trying to figure out what my next move will be after I get some cash in hand. I currently ride a Yamaha Seca II which is not a bad bike but its by no means a bike that I wanted to keep for more then 2 seasons (this being season 2) I have put about 8k since I got it last summer and I think its time to move on and get a newer bike with more power and better suspension.

So here is my dilema.... I love the 929, its one of my favorite bikes but at the same time I think that it will be way to powerful for what I need. I do some commuting to and from places with friend and work, some twisties and no track days at all. I need something that is quick but not overly fast b/c I have no plans of doing 150, "somewhat comfortable", and reliable.

I have been looking at the F4i (which a friend of mine rides) and I think it would be a good next bike from what I can tell and the few quick runs I have taken on it.

Can anyone give me any comments on the F4i or anyother suggestions or comments on other 600's?

Any problems with the F4i besides the pesky cam chain that everyone seems to have?

and sorry for the long post
Tom

An F4i would be a great bike. You will save quite a bit in insurance, and as your riding skills increase you will piss of a lot of guys on liter bikes.
What it really comes down to is what in your opinion feels better, looks better and what kind of deal you can get.
There are no issues I know of with the bike. The hydraulic tensioners Honda uses are hit and miss for sure, but they are cheap and take all of 15-30 min. to replace.

Re: Advice needed in general and on F4i

Having owned a 929, and having an F4i in the Garage (Lilith's) I can say that the F4 i is a very swee tlittle bike. Handles great, is WAY too much fun to chuck around, and has been ultra reliable. Power is good (95 bhp at the back wheel) and it just does everything well.

I personally found th e929 to be kind of like an F4i with more grunt and better brakes. Though I don't think you'd find a 929 to be "too powerful" simply because the power delivery is so nice anlinear - so no big rush at rpmx - just smooth linear power.

You couldn't go wrong with either bike, I think insurance and cost will be a bigger factor when buying..

Thanks for the response guys. I have done alot of reading up on both bikes for some time now and have come to a conclusion that either would be a great machine to own.

As far as a deal I can definately get a better deal on the F4i probably an 02 for the same price or less as a 00 929 (at least around here)

I heard the same thing about the power delivery from one of the guys I ride with but it makes me a little hesitant still b/c I tend to have a heavy throttle hand. I blame it on starting on dirtbikes b/c I used to love to get my bikes rear wheel loose in the dirt :i dunno:

Anyway I guess only time will tell what I will end up with. I have to see if I can sucker my riding buddies into taking their bikes for a spin so I can get a little seat time on both.

Thanks for the response guys
