| Re: 600F4i Crash I am guessing he was not going that fast, since the bike appears to have minor damage (usually the front end is totally gone in a high speed T-bone - based on the accidents I have viewed). Anyone have more details, i.e news article, etc?
I hope the rider and auto driver faired well (it appears the driver got it bad). The rider saw it before it happened (note the long skid mark).
Best wishes to both persons and families involved. |

| Re: 600F4i Crash RIP....that sucks.
My brother in law had a elderly lady pull right in front of him with him going about 50 with no chance to slow down at all. He struck her in the front quarter panel and ended up laying on smashed windshield. His groin struck the tank of his V65 magna so hard that you could see the imprint of the jean material imbedded in the tank!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| Re: 600F4i Crash Deathracing.com - just caught that. What a frickin a-hole to even have a domain name like that. Next comment directed in the air, not to anyone here: As for the accident, don't be too quick to judge the cager. I've seen countless car-bike collisions like this one where the bike pilot was riding way to fast in the city.
Cager comes to intersection, looks both ways, either doesn't see the fast moving bike or sees it and totally misjudges the speed (easy to do); cager pulls out and the inevitable ensues.
Point is, this very well might be the dead sportbiker's fault. |

Generally speaking though freq, I wholeheartedly agree. New riders, especially new riders with the maturity, judgement and life experience that a typical 16 year old possesses, DO NOT MIX with 100 hp 600's. Flat ridiculous that kids can get their hands on these sorts of motorcycles IMO.
I know, I know, infringement on personal rights and liberties, I'm down with all that, but something has to be done IMO. |

Point is, this very well might be the dead sportbiker's fault. | Totally agreed. Sort of odd that the forks looked pretty straing.. maybe he was pullin a 12-o'clock.. maybe not. He's dead though.. and at age 16. I don't know about the rest of you but at age 16 I was hardly the model of intelligence and self-control. I can just barely begin to image what his parents are going though... |

You're probably right, RRW, but what do you think about the following?
1. It was in a 'slow school' zone. The bike could have stopped in that distance at 25.
2. There is a LOT of damage to the car, including a flat tire on the opposite side (?) Seems like a lot of kinetic energy was expended. The side air bags were deployed in the car.. probably saved that driver's life.
3. The skid mark isn't all that long, and looks like a rear wheel lockup. In the bright light of hindsight, the rider seems to have had room to evade, swerving to the front or back, if target fixation and lockup were avoided.
My uninformed guess? too much speed, not enough experience. RIP.
The lessons I learned years ago in the MSF course are ingrained in my riding method. Identify the next possible threat, decide in advance what to do, and practice the skills to get it done. It is tragic that this young man won't be here to learn that.

| There does seem to be alot of damage. Doesn't take a whole lot to set off the airbags in a direct hit though right? IF it was a 25 mph zone it looks like the bike would have been going faster than that but with the way cars are made now days it doesn't take much to make them look this way. Quote:

| Looks like lockup....but if you look at the pic and see then entrance to the road that it looks like the car came out of and where the lockup ocurred it's very close....so who knows the situation. I agree that experience almost definitely came into play here, but not sure it's the end all. Quote:

| Agreed. Wouldn't want to be the woman that was in the car no matter what the circumstances were. Would be hard to live with.
