Lowered 600RR Pictures

Finally got around to taking pictures of the completed lowered 600RR. Used the lowering link discussed in this thread: CBR 600 F4i/RR Lowering Kit

Lowering an '03 RR

sigh, well I just typed all of this in a reply to an old post on this topic and the system rejected it because of the thread's age...so here goes again.

So I've read all I could find on this forum regarding lowering an '03 RR. I used Diamond Powersports links. After working around the CA model's emissions carbon canister, I have the first iteration of the install completed. I do have a few questions I'm hoping you all can be of assistance with.

1) Currently set to the 1" whole on the links. Initially I had it set to the 3" hole, where it needs to be in order to fit the GF, but the key lock box to the rear cowl was resting on the shock damper resevoir. Anyone else experience this and what did you do?

2) I used a Pitbull Newstand to lift the front while I raised the fork tubes 5-7 mm. Well, after doing this I had to squeeze a screwdriver in between the nose and fender in order to remove the stand's pin so that I could get the stand out. After reviewing the pics of Princess' bike it seem like I may need to go another 5'ish mm. of fork tube raising. How do I do this without having the bike on a front end stand?

3) Now that this bike is lowered, can anyone offer any tips or tricks for performing oil changes?

Thank you in advance for your assistance and time. Happy New Year!

Re: Lowering an '03 RR

1) We are using the 3" drop hole and I'm pretty sure we don't have this issue. I'll doublecheck to make sure there is no contact when I get home tonight. Anything different in that area on the CA bike?

2) Remove the front fender before doing it.

3) I use a front and rear stand, and remove the lowers, and my oil pan barely clears. You might need a lower profile oil pan.

She's not a performance rider. (Neither am I.)

I've ridden it many times and it handles fine.

Re: Lowered 600RR Pictures

...or something. He stated he read all the posts about lowering the RR. Maybe that's all he could find here, nothing specific to F4i. His info under his name only lists two F4is. Sounds like one is his GF's.

Maybe that's why the 3 inch link allows the lockbox to hit the reservoir on his, but not Princess' ?

Does that make sense? I don't know why he started the title with RR.

That's why I'm confused.

Re: Lowered 600RR Pictures

Sorry for the confusion. Definitely regarding the lowering of my GFs '03 RR.

re: 2) & 3) - Great Advice! Sometimes the most straight forward answers are right in front of you and you don't see'em!

re: 1) I'm not sure if anything is different about the CA bike's undertail / lock area. Did you note anything on Princess' bike last night? Maybe I will take some pics tonight when I get home and post for evaluation.

Well, you're right, it does make slight contact. Never noticed it before. Looks like I'll have to trim the plastic back a bit.

Re: Lowered 600RR Pictures

How many miles has Princess put on since lowered? Ever any issues with ride stiffness, shock travel? I'm amazed the plastic key-thingy didn't crack. What is your plan for trimming the plastic?

Below are some pics for a looksy...not quite as clean as Princess', but it will get there

Re: Lowered 600RR Pictures

Also, when I had the link on the 3" setting and the key-thingy was resting on the resevoir, it also seemed like maybe resevoir was supporting some of the weight; like of the resevoir was not there, it would sit even lower?? What do you think?

Re: Lowered 600RR Pictures

It only has a couple hundred miles on it, so no major damage to the plastic yet.

Not really sure yet what I'll do about it. Might have to take it up to the higher notch and see how well she can reach again.

No, there is a noticeable space there when not sitting on it, on hers anyway. The rear pre-load was stiffened though, so that may hold it up a little higher.

Ok, I looked even more closely. It looks like it was only SLIGHTLY making contact, but the p
