| 600RR WOW! Finally picked up the 600RR today and all I have to is dayum that bike is smooth! There seems to be very little off/on affect of power delivery like the 954 (is it because of a smaller bike? ) Power delivery seems to be super linear. It turns in with little to no effort. But of course I'm still just taking it easy b/c I'm breaking the engine in and scrubbing the new rubber in. I'm really happy I made the switch and pretty sure that I won't regret it when I get out on the track!
I do have a complaint about the bike though. Everytime I go to either upshift or downshift, my foot his the lower fairing. It isn't like I have big feet (size 9's). Anyone encounter this problem? More than likely I just need to re-adjust my foot position when shifting. |

| Re: 600RR WOW! I've not had the foot problem at all. Just make sure you rest the balls of your feet on the pegs. I think the power delivery is very UN-linear. It's got no balls below 10k then it hits hard up to redline. Of course coming off a Duc 996 to the 600RR may be part of why it feels so peaky. I've actually been having a hard time keeping it up in the "jam" when I'm out riding. 10.5k was where the rev limiter was on my Duc and for the longest time it just felt like I was abusing the thing running it that hard, but that's where it likes to be! I'll have to say that I've been very impressed with my 600RR so far. |

If I wanted to be in a position to overtake a car in front of me the thing was howling at 9-10krpm which while a lovely note can grate after a while. Absolutely bugger all below that engine speed. On the track it would be a weapon but commuting would be a pain. I guess you could fix some of that with a PC but not by much I would think. |

| Re: 600RR WOW! Sorry, haven't been able to post anything this past weekend. I was out putting on break-in miles on the bike. Got 230 miles, only another 370 miles to go before she's broken in and ready for the track! Quote: |
Originally Posted by ConqSoft You sure your wife wasn't really buying the 600R for HER, and will be making you ride the 954? | I could only wish she wanted to ride a motorcycle. She gets scared riding as passenger, even going 35mph. Last time she rode as passenger on the bike a year ago, she didn't let me go over 55mph! Quote: |
Originally Posted by freq I knew you'd like it. What isn't there to like really. Just wait until after break-in and you wind that thing up tight. Oh yea. | Yeah, I really can't wait. I actually let it wind up a little taking a turn and it was amazingly smooth. All I had to do is think turn and thing turned in with very little effort. Quote: |

| The power delievery is indeed very smooth, but it's not linear. If it were it would pull the same from down low all the way up (like a v-twin) and not have the hit at like 9.5-10k up to 14k. I think I just misunderstood that you were talking about smoothness. |

Well yeah, I knew that when I bought it. It's not that I don't like it, it's just different than my 996 and it's taking time to re-learn how to downshift all the time. |

| Re: 600RR WOW! I was going to get the 600rr, but was told by my Uncle to get the CBR F4i, since it was more confortable and it'd be better for my first bike.
Aren't they coming out with a new design in Sept. for the 2005 RR's? |

| Re: 600RR WOW! Plain, I have ridden the F4i and RR back to back and the RR is heaps more comfortable (to me) to ride than the F4i. My hands kill me on the F4i after about 10km. The RR I can ride all day no probs.
As for linear power, they're 600's for gods' sake, if you want a bike that pulls from 2, buy a twin. But then, when you're caning it, you feel like you're just feeding it gears to keep it off the limiter. If you won't best of both, buy the 1000RR. But 600's are fun,. Just need a different mindset to ride them. You really have to stay in lower gears just riding around so when you need to go, the power is there. If you ride it like your blade, then you're gonna be waiting all the time. But you'll get used to it. |

| Re: 600RR WOW! I plan on getting a 600rr in Sept. My uncle wants to get the 1000rr.
I hated not getting the 600rr as my first bike, but've I dropped the F4i twice, the first week I had her - Glad it wasn't the 600rr... Poor red beauty, she's missing a couple of teeth.
So, keeping the rpm at 8 - 12k on 3rd or 4th is ok?
We have to start somewhere! |

We have to start somewhere! | You may want to spend a little more time on the F4i. For your level, there's nothing the RR can do that the F4i can't. |
