| CBR600F4i question Have any of you guys with an F4i noticed and smoke coming out of the exhaust when you have the throttle wide open on takeoff? Was riding with a friend today and he mentioned it and I was wondering if this was anything to worry about. The bike's still under warranty if it has to get fixed, but I have a feeling it's 'just one of those things'
Cheers |

| Re: CBR600F4i question Apparently it was blackish smoke. Sounds like the rings haven't been run in well.. |

| Re: CBR600F4i question LOL not that bad. Actually, a someone mentioned that it could be normal as it only happen when the throttle's wide open. I'll mention it to the mechanics when I take it in for a service in a couple of weeks time. |

| Re: CBR600F4i question I had a 2001 F4i before I got a 954 and my F4I also gave a puff of blackish smoke wide open. this started when I installed an aftemarket slip-on. The fix for mine was to install a power commander, so I can adjust the mapping. I was running a lil rich. problem was solved on mine. I hope this helps. |

| Re: CBR600F4i question Yep. If you have a pipe on it, and no PC and mapping, then for sure it's running rich. Especially if you just run around town for a few days and then open it up......it'll just be mostly the build up in the exhaust blowing out. Get it mapped |

I wasn't sure if I actually needed a power commander, but if it'll fix the mixtures up it'll do me fine. |

Get it mapped | I had a similar problem with a GSXR600 I have. It had an RS3 on it and along with the black smoke problem the bike would stall and stop on steep hills. Had it tuned after I got it which helped a fair bit. |

| Re: CBR600F4i question I have the EXACT same thing happening to me on my 01 F4i. My ride has 34k miles on it so I figured it was just old age and time to step up to something else. But reading these posts make me figure it's just rich fuelling and the Jardine pipe. If it's just that, I'm not gonna worry about it. |
