| Re: Repsol "69" 600RR Thanks mate. Took me 6 hrs to put it together with fair amount of mods.
Concern - how I swap it with the race fairing when I go racing. **** scared of opening it. Don't wanna spend 6 hours putting it back on. |

if it takes you 6 hours to swap fairings you're either doing something wrong or you don't know what you're doing. |

| Re: Repsol "69" 600RR I know what you mean CBR929E, but being an after market fairing, this set does not fit the best. I had to drill holes bigger and fill the big ones to small, had to put Small washers on the inside to hold the pinch bolts cause the holes were bigger, and just putting the tail section in takes me 15-20minutes cause the damn one piece is hard to get in. I am always scared of pulling the sides too wide that it may crack or break. I have to be a lot careful with the aftermarket fairing as it is not as strong as the factory one. It takes me about 1.5hrs to put the factory ones on.
So I am guessing taking off 30minutes, putting the after market - atleast coupla hours. I'd say to swap the fairing 2.5hrs X 2 times will take me atleast 5 hours leaving any dramas and delays aside. So I think that estimation is correct. |

| Re: Repsol "69" 600RR Where did you get your after-market Repsol kit? Were the decals already on there and clear-coated over? I was just wondering cuz I seen some after-market fairings, but none of them were made of ABS like the factory ones. |

Oh and no disrespect "CBR929RE", but that post had nothing to add to this topic. Being totally negative and then offering no advice on how to speed a fairing install up probably means you shouldn't waste your time posting. Post counts are not everything ya know.

| Re: Repsol "69" 600RR Those actually are made of ABS. I was thinkin about gettin the Repsol set for my 929 as I seen one done-up around here and it looked pretty good. Plus for racing/track use, you can't beat that price for a full set.
I'm definitely stayin away from PVC. Not sure about Fiberglass. I mean, is it really that expensive or hard to work with ABS plastic? You would think they'd try to match what the factory puts on. |

| Re: Repsol "69" 600RR Interesting that you ask. It took me 2 days to fit my Fibre glass race fairing on the bike compared to this ABS one. This was pretty good I would say. Plus once the hole and groves have been made it is not much of a hassle. Specially with the joint and loops ABS is the king. Not like the FG where it tends to break. The damn screen that came with the glass wasn't even meant for it.
You are very right when you say these fairings are the way to go racing and for the road. They look drn awesome mate. |

so you do have to spend alot of time getting them to look
decent... |

| Re: Repsol "69" 600RR Here is a tip..
All those holes where the pinch clip/screw/bolts or whatever you call them, go need to be of the exact dia of the screw. In case of the after market fairing it is not. So this is what I did.
Get washers of the size that will fit the screw right and glue them in to the back side of the innermost fairing on the joint. Leave it for 3 days to dry and walla you have the exact hole that you wanted. Fits really neat. |

| Re: Repsol "69" 600RR hey... that sounds like a good idea, which brings up
another question, What kind of adheasive/glue could I use
to fix the mounting tabs on the inside of the plastic? |

| Re: Repsol "69" 600RR I use an ABS welding agent or Araldite. The ABS Welding is pretty good as it contains a powder and Glue. You Mix the two to make a paste and put it on. Damn thing sticks liks a part of fairing.
Else Super Araldite (For Plastic, ABS, Glass, Ceramic etc) is great. Make sure you let the stuff dry for 3 days before you even try to put it back on. I use a little heated air in the first hour to the joint when drying with Super Araldite |

| Re: Repsol "69" 600RR awesome thanks!!! is it safe for paint? Not directly on the paint
but from the inside. I have seen some of the glues get hot and they
almost melt through. I have some old plastics I'll try first... |

| Re: Repsol "69" 600RR Needs to be applied on the inside of the fairing as it will corode the paint a bit around the space. The ABS Welding material can also be used to fix cracks and broken bits but you will have to sand, primer and then paint it from the outside. Try the Aralditte as it has no side affects I have seen. |
