| Will an F4 fit me? I am wondering if anyone could help with my dilemma. I am looking to buy a bike in the spring (maybe sooner) and I have narrowed my choices down considerably, but the obvious frontrunner is a 1999 CBR F4. Included in my list was a 1999 Yamaha R6, but I certainly prefer the F4 because I am not a track rider. I sat on an R6 last night and suffice to say the bike is really small or I look really big, because my friends said it looked "uncomfortable." I have ridden a 1993 CBR 900RR quite a bit, and I feel comfortable on it (in terms of size), but the R6 made me look like a "circus clown on a tricycle"--so said my friends. I am 6'1" and 185lbs, so by no means huge, but bigger than average. Could anyone please tell me--given my size--if I will be comfortable on this bike , and if I will look rather ridiculous.
Thanks

| Re: Will an F4 fit me? My first bike was a 99 F4, I'm 6'2 and had no problems on the bike what so ever. More comfortable then my 954 on longer trips, the F4 is like a Cadillac!!

The r6 is a different type of fit. I am 5'10 220 and the r6 looks tiny under me. On the other hand the F4 and F4i both fit me like a glove.
Find a nice used F4 you cant go wrong |

| Re: Will an F4 fit me? 6'1 220 when I had my F4. I though it fit really well compared to others. I found the R6 to be too cramped and the tank indents did not fit my legs.
The down side is the one peice seat with a pilon. I found that my gf always slide into me vs. the 929 were she is stashed up and away from me. Pilons suck anyways thats why I have not reinstalled my passengers footpegs.
Trunk space is not that great either but you can remove the manual and cut out the clips that hold the manual to free up some space.
The F4 is not as race oriented as the GSXR or R6 for that time but it is a terrific streetbike. |

| Re: Will an F4 fit me? if you could afford one or could fine one cheap, get an F4i. 2 seats and fuel injection.

| Re: Will an F4 fit me? I would love to get an F4i, but I just don't think I could afford a nice one--I sure as hell don't want one that's all rashed up. My price range puts me at about a '99, and my research has lead me to conclude that this bike will suit my needs and wants really well.
I know the F4 is not as race-oriented as the Gixxer or the R6, but I ride on the street so comfort is an issue too. I like both bikes, but I don't fit well on the R6, and though I fit fine on the GSXR 600, the fact that it is race-oriented makes it uncomfortable for me (my hands start to go numb after about 20 minutes on my buddy's GSXR 600). Nice bike, just not for me.
anyone know what kind of mileage an F4 will get? |

| Re: Will an F4 fit me? gas mileage i get around 44 mpg when i'm not in the twisties. i weigh a bit less than you though (around 165-170)....and if you are thinking that the F4 isn't "race oriented"....let's just say that i can blister 208 GP As with her just as easily as someone on a gixxer 600 could. those bikes are fun as hell and are still really comfy (as much as a sport bike can be) on long rides. comfort wise...i like my F4 WAY more than my 1KRR. it's a pretty forgiving bike also. was my first bike and several times i've made mistakes that i think if i were on another bike i would have ended up on my ass. |

| Re: Will an F4 fit me? I am not saying that the F4 won't scream, I just meant that it is more comfortable that the R6 and Gixxer. I just don't want an out-of-the-box racer like the gixxer because i like being able to ride for more than 20 minutes without wrist and back pain. But I am not concerned in the least about the F4's performance |
