| Well the f4i is almost ready for the track. Not bad for a bunch of beers and a sheet load of spray pain huh? What do you guys think? I still gotto fix a small radiator leak, the oil pan has a small leak and the windscreen needs to be mounted. I can't wait for Barbers. |

| Re: Well the f4i is almost ready for the track. Sweet!!! I just recently put together my 2001 F4i track bike. However I just left my plastic primer gray. Figured that I would be wasting money on paint b/c I would end up rashing the plastic.
My .02 cents on the smoked windscreen is ditch it to get a clear one screen. That is if you wear sunglasses or a dark smoked visor for your helmet. I can't imagine going down the front straight at 120+ MPH tucked in behind the windscreen and it looks like night time.
Keep the shiny side up and rubber side down!!!! |

| Re: Well the f4i is almost ready for the track. I don't wear a tinted screen but I needed a dubble bubble for the clearance on CBR1000rr front brake set-up. Here is another. Like I said it was just spry paint.

| Re: Well the f4i is almost ready for the track. You're pretty good with a can of spray paint! Every time I use that chit I end up with the nozzle causing spattering. And yes, I shake the can and clear the nozzle frequently.
edit: Oh, and the bike looks good!

| Re: Well the f4i is almost ready for the track. Thanks guys... Really It's just laquer paint I got at Auto Zone. A buddy and I did the job in about five days. Most of it was sanding and drying. Oh yeah and fighting the bugs and lint LOL. I found the best was Duplicolor. Plus I knew if I rash it up I sand it and buy more paint and spray it. It really came down to the fact that I'm just cheap. The only things I regret was not getting a primmer that adhears to whatever was on the race fiberglass when purchased. I'll address that when I crash it tho. |

Bacchus they make this little nozzle/handle/trigger thing that attaches to spray cans, works awesome. its only a couple bucks.

I love that you were able to mount the 1000rr's front brake set-up. Any cleance issues? What brake lines did you use? 1000rr's or F4i's? I would love to know a little more about you conversion if you would not mind sharing.. |

I don't know what the F4i or 1000rr's brake set-ups look like as I have nothing but mine as a comparo, but there look to be little clearance issues(windscreen) that is easily cured. The Goodrich lines are probably the F4i's but I will contact the previous owner to clear that up. BTW pics to follow |

| Re: Well the f4i is almost ready for the track. Suspension is on the to-do list. I've always road street bikes(only one trackday) on stock suspension. So I will have to learn that as I go. This is my first track bike so its all a learning experience. I have figured out a few things. Here is a list of do-nots : buy a pit teck windscreen, paint track fiberglass with laquer(will try poly-eurathane sp? next time), let someone else drill holes in track fairing or fairing mounts, wait until one week from needing tires to order them. So you guys can learn from my mistakes. I'll try to keep the list as updated as possible. |

There isn't on my bike because it has an aftermarket upper fairng stay, but like I said I dont have any thing to compare it too. |
