XMAS GIFTS!

hey ya'll just wanted to let ya know that i finally got all my toys installed on my 03 600rr... the k&n air filter slid right in like a glove... next on the list was my yoshimura rs5 stainless steel full racing exhaust... and damn does she purr, its smooth sounding at idol but as you increase the rpms she begins to scream! the only thing i did not like was the way it sat with the bracket yoshimura provided... the pipe sat way to low and seemed to stick out too far..but i left that for later when i thought of something to fix it... the next thing to install was my psIII usb power commander... it was pretty simple to install, lay it in the tail, run the connectors through the the tail to the tank and attach the new connectors... its as easy as plugging the connectors in, and downloading a map on the internet..so back to the exhaust.. a few measurements, few cuts with the tin snips, a trip to the grinder, and drill press and it was done... i moved the canister up about an inch and a half.. it looks so neat and tidy tucked up where it belongs as compared to before.. i will post pictures soon i just wanted to tell everyone of the changes i made..

ohh and by the way i dont know of the hp numbers yet but it feels incredibly peppy as compared to before.. it really likes to wheelie in first gear, and flies through the rpms like crazy... it seems to jump off the line more, as compared to before when there was a bit of a lag off the line.. over all the bike is much more responsive now as compared to before the adjustments, i promise ill have pictures up soon showing the change in canister height..

*update* i got some pics check em out http://community.webshots.com/album/541775987JdLIXP

Re: XMAS GIFTS!

The way you sucked the pipe up closer under the cowl really cleans it up. Nice touch there. I think you need some more motorcycles in that garage.

Re: XMAS GIFTS!

Wow, I'm thinking Yosh changed the design or something cause my full doesn't even come close to sticking out that much. Mine is pretty much flush with the tip of the tailsection.

for real?!? does it tuck up higher in the tail section as well? does the pipe seem shorter? is it the same exhaust? get back to me because that would be fairly gay if they changed the bracked that drastically. i was also thinking of cutting the canister to shorten it about an inch so it doesnt stick out of the tail at all. This could easily be done with a set of tin snips and a rivit gun, and wouldnt sacrifice any preformance at all.

Manningr2-

What did you have to remove to do the air filter? I assume the tank cover
but was wondering what else. I've got to find my electronic service manual.
Thx.

BTW: Checked out the pics.

Mine still hangs down a bit but by no means sticks out as far as yours does. I have the full SS system with a Ti can. I'll see if I can dig up a pic for ya.

{EDIT} Added Pic.

yea you gotto remove the tank cover, which means you have to remove the air duct covers as well. then you have to remove the air box screw, theres a bunch of em, around 10 or so i think. there is a bracket mounted to the airbox to hold some wires, so you gotto take out those screws too. ya pull the wires, remove the air box cover, unscrew the air filter and send the new one home. its really really really simple so if ur thinkin about it just do it

its a different pipe so its gonna stick out a different amount.. you have an oval canister, which i had previously(micron slip on) and it tucked up nicer and was shorter. my rs5 full racing exhaust has a different shape and obv they cut it to a different length so it sticks out further. tail looks good on urs cept for that huge licenseplate contraption..
