Re: Fan question

Why?

Easy/best way would be to wire a toggle switch somewhere that would activate the fan relay in conjunction with the thermostat so that normal function would continue, but you could force the fan on if wanted.

I have a switch setup like that on my 929, but on my f4i I don't really need to ever have it function in auto... On all the time would be fine for it.

Re: Fan question

So what would be the easiest way? I was thinking just unplug the plugs that go into the temp sensor on the raditor and just connect them together?

That would pretty much do it. Might want a switch in there just so you have the option of turning it off to aid in warm up. The part in the radiator is a thermal switch; kind of an automatic toggle... if you are talking the one in line with the fan. Replacing it or removing it should not be an issue, just make sure the switch is rated for the current.

Unless you have a problem with it working automatically, you might be creating more problems making it on all the time than you would solve.

If you have the right one, the temp switch will ground to the radiator completing the circuit. Best to look at a wiring diagram and make sure you have the right wires.

Re: Fan question

With how simple it is to wire, I don't see why you'd want to disable the automatic function, or have it on all of the time without the option of turning it off.

I've learned from others mistakes (as well as some of my own) that the easiest way is rarely the best. If you wire it properly, you can feel free to leave the switch on all the time if you wish, but at least the option would be there.

On my other bikes I have a switch but the F4i is my new stuntbike and will always be ridden with high rpm's in slow speeds and will be running at high temps at all times
