| 95 cbr f3 issues... electrical? i just bought a 95 cbr 600f3. its my first bike, its got about 38.000 miles on it, i got it for dirt cheap, just lookin for a bike to learn on before i start ridin something newer/nicer. i just had it in the shop for a tune up before the season began, and apparently there were some major issues with the engine, the valves were way off among other things. but they got the engine sorted out.
heres the real issue: its never been real reliable in terms of being able to turn it on, and by that i mean the battery is always kicked or close to it. what i've been doing lately is unhooking one of the terminals of the battery everytime i park the bike for more than about 5 minutes. i take this to mean theres a drain somewhere, and i think it's my alternator. i got 'er fired up and got 'er at a good idle and then unhooked the battery and she died after about 4 more revolutions of the engine.
if the problem is w my alternator, might that explain this problem- its only happened like 3 or 4 times, but i'll have the bike on for about 5 minutes, i'll get on it and stand it up to put up the stand, and it just dies. then i try to start it up again, and nothing. lights, blinkers, horn etc still works, but not even a click from the starter. but then i can jump it off my car battery and she starts up again just fine.
if it is my alternator what are my options in terms of fixing/replacing it? whats the best thing to do or wheres the best place to buy.
help please, i'm just tryin to learn a thing or two here...o yea and get my bike back on the road |
