00 f4 oil and coolant ques

I just got a 00 f4 and was wanting to change the oil and engine coolant, being that I really don't know when the last time it was done. What does everyone use in these fluids??

Re: 00 f4 oil and coolant ques

this is a question we've gone over a hundred times so you might want to do a search on oil types and coolant types. short answer tho; many people use honda pre-mix coolant or they often prefer a water/wetter mixture. as far as oil, that subject is vast so look it up. I use Mobil 1 synthetic.

how many miles you have on your bike?

I've got just shy of 24,500 miles, and had it checked by a local stealer, before I bought it, said everything looks like it's been well maintained.

Any idea on amount of oil??
Thanks

your bike will take just under 4 quarts. you want the level to be in between the two marks of your oil window. I'd use a good full synthetic if I were you. with that many miles it can be a added safety, remeber that you are not only lubing the engine but using the oil as a clutch lubricant as well (your oil doubles as transmission fluid). some regular car engine oils don't cut it. they don't have the extra kick to be effective on a motorcycle. but like I said, do a search on our past threads. this site can be a great tool for learning more about your bike. you can lean a lot of crap too.

Re: 00 f4 oil and coolant ques

I appreciate the advice, I found the other million threads on the topic, and by trial and error had pretty much determined the amount of oil, but it is nice to hear it from someone that I really didn't screw up big time.

I had a yzf600r before but was to scared to do my own maintenance, but I know enough that it isn't that bad. plus it saves money, and I know that it's done right. Again appreciate the input!!!
