can a D&D slip on go bad after 7000 miles?

So I have a cbr 600 f4i 2004, I bought a D&D slip on NEW in 1/05 and have used it for about 7k, it now sounds like crap, it sounds sorta ok when Im above 9k rpms but if I am between 3k-9k on the rpms it sounds like crap...sounds kinda crunchy and not smoothe if that makes sense...it just doesnt sound right at all anymore..I have taken it off a few times and made sure there were no leaks etc....I know how its supposed to sound and it just dont sound right anymore..Heres the best. I bought another one and received it yesterday and this one is not loud at all!!! Its like 80 percent lower than my other pipe and its the same pipe..its slightly louder than stock??? The bike sounds good nice and smoothe with it on but its not loud whatsoever The whole point of buying a D&D is for the sound(if you like a loud pipe) which I do. I feel slightly safer with it loud..
any help?
tia

D&D pipes ARE crap. They are built like **** and sound like **** when new, what do you expect?
Congrats on owning a pipe that annoys the **** out of every other rider on the road.

I gave you the answer. Quit your ****ing crying over the fact that you own a **** pipe. Deal with it.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought a ****-ass D&D and now it sounds like even more **** than new, I'm gonna go whine about it on a board and when I get a straight answer I'll cry a river.

D&D isn't known for quality...they're known for being obnoxiously loud. You got what you paid for.

That was a little harsh. You have a member on his or her first post with a valid question about a problem with the exhaust and gets a response like that. While i agree with your review on d&d products the thread was not "rate my exhaust".

D&D is total crap like everyone has said. They are nothing but noise maker. Just run without a pipe and save your money.

D&D actually make less HP than the stock pipe. Which proves that there was absolutley no research when they developed their pipes.

D&D are bad out of the box. I don't think they have a QA/QC section.

Re: can a D&D slip on go bad after 7000 miles?

When I bough my bike it came with a D&D and so far I like it. It might go bad eventually. When it does I'll deal with it. For now all of you who don't like them don't buy one and if you need to be moron when someone asks for help you better . D&D are of less quality? Fine. Kid get a different slip-on and don't waste your money trying to fix it.
For now I'm gonna keep making noise and getting less power in the process. Geeeez... respect and manners go futher than... well than whatever it was you were doing...

Re: can a D&D slip on go bad after 7000 miles?

I have a D&D on my F2 and I like the exhaust note because it actually sounds powerfull and throaty, unlike the large majority of sportbikes that sound no better than a ricey civic.

I was considering repacking my muffler, but the concensus is that D&D sucks. So if that's the case, what would you recomend in it's place, or how would I remove and replace the packing? I want my bike to remain tough sounding, not a rice grinding jap bike (which it is...)

Oh also, if you have nothing good to say, then dont... ****ING SAY ANYTHING! didnt yo' mama teach you ANYTHING?

Re: can a D&D slip on go bad after 7000 miles?

That would be a nice muffler, and sure better for the price... Only thing is I have an F2. It's considered old in the aftermarket community... most of my skins are cracked from stress too. yay!

And why would I put $800 into a bike i paid $2500 for? It's gonna be my wife's bike this upcoming spring. I hope in San Diego someone can hook myself and friend up with some nice bikes for cheep.

How to repack exhaust

Check out that link, it shows you how to repack your exhaust. Alot cheaper then buying a new slip on again.
