Rear Shock Question - F4i

I am looking into getting my forks re-built sicne I am 210 and my 01 F4i has just under 20k on it and the front end is way to soft for my liking anymore. I talked to a shop out here in NJ ( WCW ) and the guy told me I am going to need to do something with the rear shock. The forks are going to cost me like $500 so I am trying to save money and look for a used rear shock.

I want to upgrade my rear shock to something better then the stock shock. Since I am not going to be able to afford a new Ohlins or Penskee (SP?) shock so I am looking for a used one.

So the question is will a shock from other then a F4i fit my bike? Say I found a shock from a 600rr will it work. I am thinking not but it cant hurt to ask.

Also if anyone has one for sale please let me know.

Re: Rear Shock Question - F4i

I am in the same boat. If you have the 500 send your shocks to dan kyle. alot of people here swear by him. As far as a rear goes I need one too! If the old one was good enoff till 20k you may just want ot pick up a low milage one off ebay.

Good luck I think we will be bidding on the same stuff when it comes up.

I second shipping the forks to Dan Kyle. Call him and see if he does the same magic to the F4 forks that he does for the 929/954. Perhaps you can find a used shock.
