Re: witch damper do you like

So you prefer an Ohlins dirt bike damper over an Ohlins sport bike damper?
Interesting, seeing as how Ohlins themselves didn't want to market that thing as a sport bike damper and sold the rights to do so to Scotts.

Rotary dampers suck compared to piston-rod type dampers.

Re: witch damper do you like

Boiling oil is the best witch damper I've used. Next would be a mash made from gariic and sheep blood, and is best when purchased from a source with a good reputation. Which witch damper you use is a personal choice.

each to their own

I've had both types & i preffer scotts

why?

it has high and low compression damping

why is that good?

because it means when you dont want any damping, you dont get it & when you need lots of damping its there for you

if rotary dampers are so **** then why does repsol honda use them? i hear they did ok in the championship this year

(and yes i realise its electronic not oil based but the principal is the same in regards to how it dampens the steering)

Re: witch damper do you like

I had a GPR rotary damper on my 929,would reccomend one to anyone, not as blingy as a scotts but saved by bacon a few times.Don't trust the electronic one on my new Blade but dont want to take it off and leave a big hole in my tank.

Really? Repsol Honda is using them? They gonna use them on the 212 as well? Look close now, where is it?
Oh, must be that invisible kind.
I'd rather have an active damper than one with claims of two speed settings that was engineered and developed for the dirt bike market. One that the actual makers don't sell for street bike use.
How many Ohlins sponsored factory superbike or MotoGP teams around the world use that dirt bike damper instead of the sport bike piston-rod type?
That's right, none.
Honda don't even use their own HESD on the MotoGP bike.

Re: witch damper do you like

and I like a damper that doesn't "ignore" the first off center stroke at 140 mph that sends the bike into a total slapper and rips the mounting screws out of the unit.
