I have one of the real carbon fiber tank gaurds on my bike. It was on the wall at the dealer when I bought the bike and I picked it up there. But I don't remember who made it. Just saw it and had to have it.

I don't know about real carbon, but Mag-Knight makes a magnetic tank bra that has a very wide coverage area and comes in carbon-look. ANd they make them the all 9XXRR models.

I bought one for my F3 and I got it from Lockhart Phillips. Real carbon and it was of pretty good size, prolly big enough for your buddys tank.
