It seems it may just be a fuel mixture change if ity detects wheel spin, for instance, but impressive it it does have some sort of attempt to bring that type of technology to the common rider. The magazine also states one of the aims will be to reduce the weight down to 190 Kg(419 lbs) when fully "wet" (all fuel, liquids, lubricants, etc). Still according to MotoRevue, the engine will be completely new and should top the revs achieved by the current 600 bikes (although the tiny article mentions 19,000 rpm, I doubt it). I do believe it may try to go to the 17,500 (real rpm) just to throw dust on Yamaha's face after the marketing mess of the new R6 announced rpms...
Here's the scanned reference, with an edited photo of what the new CBR 600 RR COULD look like:

| Re: 2007 CBR 600RR I'm sure it'll be a blockbuster. I really believe Honda want to shake their perceived "staid" image... We all know they have the engineering and development chops to do it.
There'll be plenty of speculation over the next few weeks, but one thing you can be guaranteed of is that it will look a LOT like a RC211V. (that's a terrible photochop though ) |

| Re: 2007 CBR 600RR There is a long running thread on the 600rr forum about the next bike. There are 6 or 7 different photoshopped pics, including the one above.
A few more weeks and we'll know all about it anyway.
And yes, I'm sure it will be a huge disappointment, just as the initial '03 and re-done '05 were.
Such huge disappointments to the other teams in World SuperSport, that is. Especially disappointing to that laughingstock known as the GSXR600 in pretty much all 600 series. |

My next bike will be an already race prepped 2006-7 R6. Well, my next race bike anyway. But that won't be for awhile.

Oh, and you may want to really look into that R6 plan. Talk about overhyped disappointments.
Really though, unless you plan to be top points man in your region there is no point in trying to chase down the latest hypemobile.
Even then it is all about the rider. |

The RC 30/45s were radical, but very pricey and limited homologation models.
And the NR of course, the most radical streetbike ever made, but I don't see that coming for the 600RR.... |

You can take the BDA approach (see his post above) all day long, with good cause and solid basis, but as I have said in the past, it sure would be nice to see a Honda blowing away all the others in the moto-mags and online reviews.
And what LTL said. |

And what LTL said. | Agree. I'm another that would love to see an earth-shattering, bleeding-edge 600 (actually a 650) out of Honda, but to be honest I bet all we get is something that just pips the others by a hair.
Honda doesn't really have to do much to the bike in order for that to happen, as none of the other three are really that much better. I'm sure we'll see the slipper clutch, electronic throttle, ~10 lbs lighter and a few more ponies, but not the 350lb wet, 120bhp 600RR monster Honda has the resources to make (and so does the aftermarket ). |

it's interesting you should mention that, TB, b/c I am beginning to wonder if the manufacturer's are starting to teeter on the bleeding edge/performance vs. dependability/reliability line....I mean, if a race-prepped R6 will burst into flames on a routine lowside, geez, what does that say about how close the Yamaha is the reaching the point of diminishing returns? |
