Ideas on eliminating fender on 06 600rr

Hi everyone,

I haven't posted on here much yet, but I'm looking to find a way of eliminating the fender on my 06 600rr without paying the prices of the eliminator kits. Anyone with ideas please help me out! I'm workin on a tight budget, so anything I don't have to buy is a plus! Getting new tires and sprockets and my budget is running out!

Thank you in advance!

Re: Ideas on eliminating fender on 06 600rr

I did this on my 600RR when I first got mine. I completely removed the rear fender, signals and all. Then I found some 1/8" thick(maybe thinner, not sure anymore) metal and fabricated a bracket for the plate to sit on. This bracket was mounted on the brackets which held the rear reflectors. I installed it so that it is free swinging, so-to-speak. This way, it just sits however the wind blows it. Also, I put a small piece of velcro on the lower left corner of the plate and some velcro on the undertail, so I can put the plate up if I have a passenger, but I have found that I actually don't need to do that, the plate just naturally sits in the upward position. Then, as for the signals, I bought some smaller aftermarket signals. I installed these on the same reflector brackets that the plate is now mounted to. And to hide the wires, I routed them on the inside of the tail, and under the seat, I think. I will have to double check on that.

I will see if I have some pics of the install and post them if I do. Hope this helps.

Thank you, those are the kind of ideas that I am looking for, I will be doing most of this over the off season, and I like to work on the stuff myself, this is just a new design of bike for me, so I wanted to get ideas, and that is a very good one, thank you!

Hey bikerboy, I have been meaning to post some pics of the bracket I made for mine, but I have been slacking on it. I have a new camera on its way, so as soon as I get it, I will post some pics so you can see what I did. Hopefully that will help more than just telling you about it.

I wish I could have gotten better pics for you, but it is kind of difficult with my camera and the way everything is set up. But if you can work with the pics I posted, good on ya.
