| Re: loud rattling in nuetral When I took my 2000 F4 trasmission apart for slipping out of second gear, I also had that noise you describe. Turned out two of the shift forks were bent, one of which was discolored from the heat and with extensive wear of the face. The gear dogs were excessively worn. The shift pawl spring that is supposed to keep the shift forks in their proper position without the shift drum from wandering around was also weak. You should find lots of metal scraps in the oil pan too. |
