CBR 600 F4i ECU

Alright guys and girls, I figured this would be the best place to gain a wealth of knowledge on my most recent purchase. I have just bought a 2003 CBR F4i from a friend of mine that came back from overseas ( we are in the military). The only thing is that it has a Japanese spec ECU that governs the bike to about 106 mph and rather sluggish in the powerband. I am looking for a American spec ecu and was curious as to whether or not a 2002 ecu is compatible with te 2003 bike? I realize that I say this is my first bike and that some of you may think that the jap spec ecu is good for a beginner, but just because I say it is my first bike doesn't mean I haven't been riding for a while.

I would think you should be fine with a ECU from 01-present day since they have not changed the F4i other then colors.
