CBR 600 F4i clutch life?

I was thinking about this so I thought I would ask this question to the group. I am relatively new to cycling and was wondering what the lifespan is of a clutch for a bike? My bike only has 4000 miles on it so I am in no need of a clutch hopefully in the near future but was just curious about this. Also, how do you know you need it replaced? Is it like a car where you know because there is slippage? and finally, are they relatively easy to install?
Thanks in advance for any comments.

The lifespan of the clutch is directionally proportional to the amount of abuse it takes.
Given what we know of you from your posts, you are most likely very good to your bike and clutch and it should easily last into the teens on mileage.
You will notice some slippage or distance in the lever travel, but some of that can be attributed to cable wear. Keep that lever adjusted properly and you'll feel when the bike is slipping.
And yes, they are actually very easy to replace. Just drain the oil, remove the case cover and from there it is four bolts. If you have the service manual you can get the job done very quickly and save the couple hundred dollars a dealership will charge you.

I took the clutch apart on my F4 at 45,000 miles. I measured the plates and discs with a micrometer and found them to be within "new specs." The clutch basket does show some wear as notches where the plates rattle and slide. My clutches may outlast the clutch basket!

i just had my bike in for its 4000 mile service and when i got it back there was NO play in the clutch lever so i adjusted it myself to be what the manual specs. i could not believe this. i remember someone posting to a question i had some time ago and he said to get to know your bike and do most of the maintenance yourself because that way you will know that it is right. so with the help of this great group i am learning a lot so one day i can do just that.

that is great to know. if i take care of my bike like i do my car it should last a while. i changed the first clutch in my 91 honda accord 5 speed ex at 180,000 miles.
