| CBR 600 F3 front wheel - not I want to upgrade the front wheel of my 900RR from 16" to 17" and heard that a CBR 600 F3 is a bolt-on replacement.
After several attempts to buy one on eBay I finally snagged one. Described as " 98 honda cbr600 f3 front wheel and tire 96 95" No problem that it has only one rotor, I wanted to use the Galfer Waves currently installed on the 900 anyway.
When it arrived, I was a bit disappointed by its condition. But the main problem is that the rotors do not fit. I double checked the Galfer application chart, the '93 900 uses the same rotor as the 95-98 600 F3, part number 027
The eBay wheel hub, where the rotor fits is 2.27" diameter, whereas the 900 rotor has a 2.45" center hole. And the diameter of the mounting bolt pattern is correspondingly mismatched.
I contacted the seller who replied that he is positive that the wheel came from a 98 CBR 600 F3. That could well be the case, but it is obviously not the original wheel.
Does anyone here have any idea what bike this wheel would have originally come from?
I don't really want to go and buy new Galfer rotors to match the scruffy wheel. By the time I have it stripped and powder coated and replaced the bearings, it would have been cheaper to buy a brand new stock wheel set.
I'm hoping that I can get the seller to give me a refund and return it.
Any help would be much appreciated.

| Re: CBR 600 F3 front wheel - not How about posting a pic of it. It may be just the flavor to swap onto my VFR. I just bought a 99 F4 wheel that looks alot like an F4I wheel. I am not sure how this is going to swap into my 04 VFR with F4I forks? We shall see. |

| Re: CBR 600 F3 front wheel - not Here are some photos of the wheel: Attachment 23396 Attachment 23397
Here, the stock 900 rotor has been placed on the hub Attachment 23398
You'll notice that the tire is a Battlax BT-50F 120/60 ZR17 (in completely crap condition). This choice of tire size just looks so wrong for the rim size

| Re: CBR 600 F3 front wheel - not According to my EBC catalog (available online):
CBR600F3 rotors are interchangable with 95-97 CBR900RR rotors (also 94-97 VFR750 and all VTR1000F)
The 98-05 VFR800 (non-ABS) and CBR600 F4 (NOT F4i) uses the same rotor as the 93-94 CBR900RR |

| Re: CBR 600 F3 front wheel - not That wheel looks alot like what I just took off my 04 VFR. The F3 has a similar pattern but the rotor mount area looks larger on f3 than my vfr. How much did you pay? I may want it.
I have a F4 wheel on mine right now.. a trade would put you in the same situation though. |

What would be the correct choice in tire size for this rim size?

Mine is Clear lacquered Alloy btw

Unfortunately I cant help you though cause my manual is at home. But if there are no replies and you still need the specs, Ill be home in about 3 hours. You do need to use locktite on those bolts though. |

Clean the old green stuff off the threads with a wire brush and then aplly a drop or two of blue loctite. |

| Re: CBR 600 F3 front wheel - not Well, I finally got the wheel situation sorted out and now have a 17" wheel from a '95 VFR750 (same as the F3) installed on my CBR900.
It turns out that Honda used two different types of rotors for the early CBR900. The type on my bike had the rotor with the 62mm inside diameter hole, Galfer # DF676W. The VFR and F3 wheel (and CBR900 '94 and later) uses the rotor with a 58mm inside diameter hole, Galfer # DF027W.
So I bought a pair of 027 rotors from Cal-Sportbike (thanks Todd) and fitted them to the VFR wheel.
All that was needed after that was a couple of custom spacers. A local guy machined them in stainless steel. |

| Re: CBR 600 F3 front wheel - not Keep the axle and spacers from your 900RR.... it will allow the F3 wheel to mate perfectly with your calipers.

| Re: CBR 600 F3 front wheel - not I don't think I can because I have a 1993 with the speedo drive as a spacer.
It's been a while since I had it apart, but I did notice that the bearings in the F3 wheel sink in a lot. I'd prefer to figure this out before I take it all apart... :-) |

You will need to have custom spacers made for both the left and right sides. It's very straight forward, I can give you the exact dimensions if you need them, just send me a PM |

I think I have no choice but to ditch the speedo cable as the rim's hub is too wide to accept it. I have plans on going to a 95 series speedo and wiring it into the bike. |
