| dropped my bike i just purchased a cbr600 and like an idiot i went out riding without first attaching some frame sliders. Well of course i dropped it going like 5mph(dipping in a curve to slow). I ended up cracking my stator altenator cover and a small amount of oil began to leak out amongst other small things which i can fix. My question is after i replace the cover do i have to do some timing of the engine before restarting the bike and is there supposed to be a small amount of oil in there? While removing it i saw there was some sort of cog wheel and this turned did i throw off the timing? |

| Re: dropped my bike replace the cover, change the oil, clean everything completely, and now ride the bike. There is no timing or specific setting for the stator. |

| Re: dropped my bike Sssaaame shh**ttt happend to me, i have a cbr600f4i 2002 the thing is that i fixed the stator cover, and reinstalled it, but now the bike won't start up, maybe you could help me...before i take the cover off, the bike ran and driven well, but now nothing, the battery was almost dead because i took a long time to fix it, but i putted a booster to fix that, now all the indicators light up right, the FI turns off, the gas pump souns good, but when i push the igniton switch there's only a sound like when a DC motor turns (I think is the starter motor that is running with no load on its axis, or maybe the gas pump works when you startup the bike i'm not sure), but then nothing the engine doesn't even try to move to startup. Maybe something came loose whe i took off the cover, a pinion or something; i also moved what i think is the flywheel but it just turned clockwise because counter clockwise movement was impossible, i think this is why somebody asked if his affects timing in the bike. I hope you could help me. Thanks! |

I hope you could help me. Thanks! | This is like reading a page from the book of my life. I was in the exact same situation. EVERYTHING you're are describing is exacty what I went through, noises and everything. When I changed my right crankcase cover, the pin and gear for my starting clutch fell out and it scared the crap out of me, especially when it wouldn't start afterwards. Lights came on, clicking sound when I hit the ignition. Nothin'. It ended up being my battery! It was taking a charge but it no longer had any cranking amps. That's why it would run everything except my starter. I would look into that before you go pulling your spark plugs or anything else. You can take it to a Batteries Plus or an Auto Zone and they should test it for free. I bet that this is your problem!
Let me know when you find out, i'm interested. |
