| Help, Turns over but wont start! Please help me! I have a 05 CBR600RR with 9000 miles, bought brand new. The last 3 days or 3 times I turned the key then turned the power to on, I did not hear the fuel injection or fuel pump turn on or make that winding sound. I then would turn the key to off then turn it back on then turn the power (red button) then tried to start it after hearing the fuel injection or fuel pump on and it would start. Today, it started up fine and I rode to my friends home about 20 miles away and shut it off. When I went to start up and leave, the fuel injection or fuel pump would not turn on or make that winding sound, the headlights and turn signals would not work, the starter does turn over but will not start the bike, the day before (after a ride) my garage smelled like gasoline from this bike, the battery is brand new and sits on a battery tender, the oil was just changed and is at the right level, its never been dropped, I checked all the fuses with a fuse sensor and they are all positively working, the only aftermarket electrical I have on it is a integrated rear turn signal light and a scorpio 500 alarm (which I did disconnect to see if that was the issue but did not seem to be).
I have researched some of the forums and the only thing close to this issue is the micro switch in the ignition (where the key goes) could be bad. I was thinking it may be the computer, but I have read nothing about the computers going bad on this bike or much of the other bikes. I use only 93 octane gas, its garage kept. I am out of answers.
Has anyone else had this problem and/or if so, can you offer any suggestions as to my next step before going to the service department?
Any feedback or help is appreciated, thanx! |

| Re: Help, Turns over but wont start! Id bet the pink slip the Bank Angle sensor has a bad connection, take off ur front cowl, and the sensor should be mounted on your your headligh assembly... good luck. .. also after reading the rest, LOL the problem with headlights and all.... the wiring harness where the speedo, and all connect, also sounds like theres a short there... If you cant find any frays, or bad connection replace your wiring harness, I am rather confident this will solve your issue. AKA My f4i did the same thing, although i caused it on my bike. the symptoms were identical. the not starting from the bank angle sensor, the damn thing jsut came undone on me, ut the headlight not coming on and signals not working came from me breaking the front fendre and the wiring harness rubbing on the front tire after coming down too hard from a wheelstand.

Thanks for the input norubit_xL,
I thought it might be the Bank Angle Sensor, and I did take the front Cowl off. It seemed stable and I unplugged it then replugged it, still nothing. That might still be it, but Im leaning towards faulty wire with the Scorpio i500 ignition anti hi jack. I've learned a lesson in the past with cars that I am relearning again with bikes. That is, leave the electrical stuff alone, once you start adding this aftermarket thing and that, who knows who messed up where. I give up, its going to the shop this Saturday. But thanks again for the input. |
