Spark Plugs

Hi Guy's

Im new to the site, and what a great site it is!

I just want to find out, when is a major service carried out?

My dealership said to me that it would be at 18000km.

I was informed at the time of purchase that the plugs would be changed at 12000km but I now believe that this will only take place at 18000km.

My local NGK importer also tells me that the characteristics of the plug will allo a lifespan of up to 100 000km.

Who do i believe?

Please, if possible, advise what gets changed at the 12000km service.

Re: Spark Plugs

well, with conflicting reports like that, just take 'em off every 10k and look at them. if there is excess carbon buildup(engine running rich), or if they look burnt(engine running lean) you know you have some other problems too.

anyways, just check the plugs for wear, if they are dirty clean them, and if they are good, put 'em back in. if the end of the electrode is rounded, or the plug is cracked anywhere, it needs to be replaced.

Oh, and re-gap them too, while you have them out, might as well, right?
