Idle udjuster over screwed?

I put a new fuel pump in my 96 CBR F3 and needed to adjust the idle. I unscrewed the Idle adjuster so much it came out! I now cannot find where to screw it back in. Can anyone help? OBTW in the schematics it calls this the Screw set.

What I think I know so far is that it screws into a carburetor. Which I don't know and where to look. Also it seems like it must be hard to get to any tips on making it easier to find and screw in?

Re: Idle udjuster over screwed?

Just put it back where it came from. You unscrewed it, you should know where it goes. If you do not remember, step away from the tool box.

I don't even have the energy to write and equally stupid reply to this. If your unfamiliar with the part I'm talking about then please ask.

This adjuster knob "screw set" is approximately 8 inches long and it came off unintentionally. The place is it attaches is not apparent and I would like some help if someone knows.

Thank you

Re: Idle udjuster over screwed?

I'm with Hammer on this, and that's not a stupid reply. When I'm working on *anything* with more than 5 parts to take off, I either lay the parts out in a way to remember how they came out, or label and number them with masking tape and a sharpie. this part is essential when dealing with lots of similar looking parts that arent interchangeable, like the 20 different vacuum hoses that had to come off to rebuild my 82 accord.

My advice, snoop around the area of your bike it was on and look for brackets and the hole on the carb or linkage it was attached to, and put it back on. Be very sure that if the end of the screw had a washer, or an o-ring, that it goes back on with the screw.

sorry I cant be of any more help bro, and good luck

Re: Idle udjuster over screwed?

it screws into the middle of the carburetor rack between carbs 2 and 3 on the bottom side of the carb rack. Use a small flashlight if needbe. There's probably a small spring that goes over the screw end.

Have to say this

BUD- YOU ARE SO SCREWED!!
OK now that I've had my fun...you can get a service manual...not owners...here: http://www.tradebit.com/searchfiles.php for peanuts. Then next ime you want to know ANYTHING to do with your scoot you can look it up in a second.
If you search around a bit you may even find it as a free download somewhere!

Re: Idle udjuster over screwed?

Don't be discouraged by these butt heads. A sure and sound piece of advice IS to buy a Honda service manual for your bike. That should help you out.

Re: Idle udjuster over screwed?

Hey guys, no need to ride his ass.. He wasnt intending to take it off, he just backed the idle out too far (he may have thought that it would just stop when out of adjustment).

Now back on topic, Have you ridden the bike since it came out? If so you may have a problem... the would have been a small spring and cup washer on the threaded end of the adjuster cable that would have fallen off when it came undone. If you cant find these dont panic they will only be a few dollars. Now Im not familiar with the 600 so take Fastrr's advice as to the location, you probably have to remove your tank and air box to get a clear view of what going on there, twist the throttle and look for a stop that operates of the pully or spindle that rotates when you twist the throttle.

Hope this advice helps alittle... oh and welcome to the org!

Cheers Jai

Re: Idle udjuster over screwed?

i agree fellas, its not like he meant to take it out without looking where it goes. I agree with the others, get yourself a service manual or go to a dealer, they may be willing to show you a pic of where that screw is suppose to go. If so, memorize it!!!! and put it back in. In the long run you will still need the service manual for other things that make you say oops or even

Re: Idle udjuster over screwed?

Hey thanks folks I really appreciate the help! I've been meaning to get a manual and this is just the thing to get me motivated. Yah I didn't notice a spring on it so.... I'm guessing I'll have to order it. Great bit of advice there as I didnt' realize it had a spring on it.

Take a shop magnet (on a stick, buy one if you don't have one yet, you will use it!), and fish around on top of the engine/trans under the carbs. You may just find your spring and washer.

Take a look at this!
I don't think the part is even available without buying the carb it comes off of.

Re: Idle udjuster over screwed?

Nedro accidently gave the wrong link for your model of bike.

here's the correct microfiche link from RonAyers.

If you can't find the spring ( mine has fallen under the starter motor a couple times on my bike ) Honda dealer will have it for a few bucks.

Re: Idle udjuster over screwed?

If you get one workshop manual then the Haynes Manual is a total god send, cos they warn about things like you've experienced because they done the same as they disassemble the bike.
With lots of pics for peeps who can't read

I know my CBR600 Haynes lists my uk bike and the American + Californian variations of the same. .......... Ebay is the place too
