Dump the anit-freeze, why?????

I live in SoCal so no chance of coolant freezing, I was told to run strait distilled water

I have also seen this posted on here, what is reasoning behind this.

Thanks

Bad logic.

Distilled water is better since there is less impurities to cause bad things™. However antifreeze raises the boiling point over just water, has lubricants that extend water pump life and anticorrosion additives.

If you run pure water for track use you should add water wetter that adds some of that protection back while being safer for track use (antifreeze is super slick and if someone crashes those following would have bad trouble). For street use I can think of no advantage and several negatives.

Re: Dump the anit-freeze, why?????

For those of us that do trackdays, antifreeze removal is required by the track orgs, because if someone wrecks and it spills, it's very slippery. Other riders would then potentially crash from sliding on it, and it takes a long time to clean off the track. For street only riding, there's no real reason to switch to distilled. If you do, get some Redline Water Wetter and add the amount stated on the bottle to the distilled water, as it will provide lubrication for the pump. Your bike will run cooler on it compared to antifreeze, but again, that's mostly a benefit on the track where you're running the bike at high rpms.
