| Re: sproket conversion!? You should read the rules first before you post. I saved you the trouble of trying to figure out which one is applicable. You should probably check out the rest of them when you have a minute. Quote: |
We have no tolerance for street stunters, street racers, or anyone else who gives motorcyclists a bad image. There are proper places for that type of thing, and a public street isn't one of them. Posting material which could reasonably be construed as celebrating or defending these types of activities will cause you to be flamed, and will probably cause you to be banned. Further, even if done in a controlled environment, FireBlades.org is not the place to discuss stunting tips, tricks, or techniques. There are plenty of other sites that cater to stunting, so please take those types of discussions elsewhere.

| Re: sproket conversion!? Yeah okay, the "W" word aside, if you go -1 and +1 you will feel a big difference. If stunting is your thing, go get the big ass sprocket that looks like a dinner plate and keep it off the street. |

| Re: sproket conversion!? I just read my post and realized it may have sounded a little harsh. Just keep the wheelies off the street. Generally it is a good idea to keep them off the track also. You go faster around a track with two wheels on the ground.
The change on the front sprocket makes a bigger change to the drive ratio than the rear. Stock gearing on an '02 F4i is 16 front and 46 rear. So going down one in the front gives a 6.3% change(15/16 = .9375) where going up one in the rear gives a 2.2% change (47/46 = 1.0217). So the -1 in the front is worth a little more to you overall as far as increasing torque to the rear wheel. However going +1 in the rear offsets the -1 sprocket size to keep your overall chain length nearly the same. So that is the long answer to why sinfuldragon is right on.
What is up with that "W" word? |

| Re: sproket conversion!? This is a pretty common mod, and i'm thinking of doing it myself. Just realize it wont get you anymore power, just a kick in the ass off the line. Like sinfuldragon said, you don't want to go dinner plate on the rear, the way slick suggested is the way to go. |
