2001 f4i forks

I am working on my cbr 600 f4i and am i replacing the front springs with some racetech srpings (95's). I am wondering what size spacer to use as the springs are a lot shorter then the orginals.

any ideas?

Are you installing the gold valves/ shims as well? What model/ rate are the springs?

You should call Race Tech and get a little guidance. 951.279.6655

i am glad you ask i had the same problem when i installed mine .85 raceteck spring , at first i used the original spacer big mistake it made the sag 15 mm when the proload was soft as possible,
then then i measuerd the original spring and spacer ,and made a custum spacer that will be in the same lentgh as the racetech spring+custom spacer ,you say the stock are longer then the racetech mine was the oppsite. anyway i think you got the idea, btw my weight is 180 with equip

Re: 2001 f4i forks

well after pulling everything apart this weekend and doing some measuring and head scratching. I am going to have to call racetech. I am not sure what length the orginal spacers were, but what is in there now is 100mm spacers (which might be the stockers, just can't remember). I also noted that with the springs in place I have very little valving control. I am using 5 weight oil for now as that was what I had at the time. I might go up a little in weight, but I need to figure out the spacers first.

I must add I made this change to the bike when I bought it in 2001. But I can't find the orginal shim's so I need to do a bit more research and figure this out.

If anyone has the stock shim measurements please post them for me. I am also thinking of going th valving route as with the new springs I am sure its going to be a bit off, but who knows.

More to come.
