| Re: Need help asap If the guy isn't willing to just write that you paid X amount for the bike (the real amount) and walk away then he has something up his sleeve. You are the one that has to pay more taxes when you go to get it switched over. Do it straight by the books and look at that title before you give him any cash!!!! look to see if it says rebuilt or even worse... SALVAGE make sure its just a normal title. and for gods sake like everyone has told you STOP RUSHING. don't act like a giddy girl when he gets there. Be cool have your guy look the bike over while you walk around and note all the chips in the paint (bike being this old it WILL have chips and point them out to him, maybe you'll get a better deal Quote:

Re: Need help asap Wait, I'm confused. He wants you to appear to sign over your car title to avoid taxes? For whom? He won't pay taxes to sell the bike, you'll pay taxes on what you paid for the bike when you go register it. Under no circumstances would I do anything like that.

Re: Need help asap write up a bill of sale that says i what ever your name is purchased what ever it is for whatever you are paying from who he is. you sign it he signs it and you are done. you can put whatever price you want on the bill of sale, but by no means would i put your car in the mix, you will get hosed if you do.

Re: Need help asap RUN HOMIE RUN!!! Not worth it, probably stolen. For piece of mind get a different bike. Last thing you need is to get pulled over and have them tell you your bike is stolen. It would cost you as much money to get it back as it would to get a new bike.

And that's providing you even get to keep the bike. If it's stollen, you don't get your money or the bike back. And you WILL go to jail for at least the time it takes to straighten everything up. Possibly longer.
Something to worry about :
He just moved so guess what? You don't get to see a picture ID of this guy because the address won't be right anyways. He'll probably show you a temp.
Be straight with the guy. Tell him that you always have a concern about stollen stuff when you buy used so you'll want to match VIN #s from tital to bike and call it in.

Re: Need help asap Rule of thumb: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. There are too many red flags with this deal. I would just walk away and find something else.
