| Re: Bike Maintanence ... That's the problem. The thin oils flow far better and keep bearings and rings cooler. Easier to start too. Unfortunately, the gears in the transmission share the same oil and they are the ones that leave metal filings in the system. The heavier oils might help your expensive transmission last longer at a slight expense of gas mileage.
Most people don't notice a difference anyway. I sure did when I changed several hundred dollars worth of gears a few years ago. Fortunately, since I was the one who changed them I didn't have to pay anyone a few thousand dollars in labor. |

| Re: Bike Maintanence ... Start off with the changing the oil, new plugs, and cleaning the carbs (F3 right?). Depending on how cold it is you should go with 20-40 if its still cold or 20-50 if its getting warmer. Buy the honda oil. It a dollar or two more then normal motor oil but it was made for your bike. If you do the oil change your self your looking at $25.
Next pull the plugs and either clean them or replace them.
Simply way to clean your carbs would be to pull the whole assembly off the bike and spray carb cleaner though everything. If you are familiar with carbs and can remember where everything goes I would say pull the jets and clean them as well. .
A few other things, make sure the chain is lubed and check the tires for plugs. Also check the speedo cable attached to the from forks. I had a problem with an buddies F3 and his cable kept coming undone. |

| Re: Bike Maintanence ... How many miles are on the bike? Change the oil and filter and put in some motorcycle specific 10W-40. Depending on mileage, the plugs, air filter, chain, and sprockets might need replacing. Your forks and shock may also need rebuilding. Check your tires, wheel bearings, and head bearings for wear.
...and buy a service manual.
