Saddle removel problem - 99 F4

Alright gang ... here's the skinny.

After some wrenching and cleaning and then re-installing my whole rear section and subframe, the trunk will no longer open. Either the lock cable will not engage or some other mechanism on the saddle is caught on something making the saddle removal impossible right now.

So my question is this: How can I get to the cable lock and the locking mechanism to release the seat? Or, how can I best access the underside of the saddle ... ie, where to start, what bolts, etc?

My thoughts were to start from underneath, but I thought I might seek the wisdom of those here on FireBlades. Any advice, tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated as I need to get in there to replace the rear light and put some blinkers on there that people can actually see.

Thanks!!

I kinda did the same thing on my 929 after putting it all back together. At first I couldn't get the damn seat to stay latched so, as I sometimes do, I lost my temper a bit and really slammed it shut. Then later I tried to open it with the key, and nuttin.
Luckily I was able to use a screwdriver to reach up from under the bike where the lock was, get it in there and move the latch over and it opened up. Give that a shot.
