Bike cutting out under load

Hey guys,

I just picked up an '05 F4i. The bike is a salvaged bike that was laid down and had damage to the lower and upper fairing. When I rev the bike out, 10k+, and put a load on the bike it will cut out. Like it is not getting fuel or spark. I can free rev the bike to redline. When the motor cuts out the fuel injection light will come on for a few seconds and then cut off. What would cause this? And where should I start. I had the tank off today looking for loose connections and didn't find anything.

check the fuel filter it may be dirty in that case its just a $9 fix. Other than that your plugs might be fowled out but if thats the case you wouldn't be able to rev it to 10k. Good luck.

Where is the fuel filter located? Is it an in tank filter or inline?

Alright well I will give that a try. If the bike has a fuel pressure sensor (just to look for a drop in fuel pressure) and the fuel pressure droped it would act like that. Makes sense to me. Thanks guys.

Re: Bike cutting out under load

Well I took the bike to a honda dealership. They said the bike was still under warranty until this coming friday. So they checked the bike out for me. Checked all the plugins and tested all the sensors. And the tech came to the conclusion that the main engine control module has gone "bad". Not sure why this would happen. But as long as I am not paying for it I will let them throw parts at it as much as they want to.

Re: Bike cutting out under load

You were able to buy a salvage bike with a warranty? Wish I could find a deal like that...especially on a salvaged '07 CBR600RR!

Re: Bike cutting out under load

Yeah thats what I said. I assumed that any bike that has a salvaged title would not be applicable as far as a warranty goes.
