| In the hot seat! Hi all, I have an 06' cbr 600 F4i. The bike is new to me and is my first Honda. I come from a long line of BMW riders. This bike seems perfect in every respect except for heat coming from under seat, primarily on the left side once the bike has reached running temp. Around 178 degrees. Does anyone have any idea's on how to redirect the heat? Summer is coming and I dread being on the black top on a 95 degree day getting my toosh Fried!
Also, any leads on finding new bolts for the body work/plastic and a new seat would be appreciated!
Thanks!

| Re: In the hot seat! I know there have been some (but very few) changes between the '02 and '06 F4i's but I have never noticed any heat from under the seat. I have noticed the frame right between my knees warms up.
Ride a little faster and get a little more airflow under there...JK
See if you can feel around when it is warmed up and determine exactly where the heat is coming from. Decide if it is actually a stream of warm air being directed up under the seat or it is being transmitted by conduction through the frame, subframe, etc.

| Re: In the hot seat! Very funny slick But your not that far off the mark, I haven't been able to get any real speed with this weather and I have a habit of babying my bikes. I'll do as you suggested and try to find the source of the heat.
Thanks! |

| Re: In the hot seat! I think you'll find that the source is from riding an inline 4...unlike a Bimmer.

| Re: In the hot seat! My brothers FZR blows the air straight up at your forearms. I found it to be way more obtrusive. I actually have to be in pretty slow traffic before I really notice the heat on my F4i. There have been a few times recently that I was wishing I could get a little more heat.

Seriously, some bikes crank out a lot more BTU's than others and what you're probably just noticing(feeling) is the difference between the two types of bikes. If you really want to reduce the heat, you can try wrapping the exhaust system in header wrap tape, or try running Engine Ice (or water/Water Wetter) to drop the running temp of the bike a little. | Re: In the hot seat! Thanks Red (you can be a smartass, it's a dirty job but someone has to do it ) I'll look into the heat wrap and the Engine Ice, the ladder seems an easier fix so I'll try that first.
bikerpipes...in my experience corbins are not compfy...my boney a** just needs more padding. Does your wife have her own bike or do you ride 2 up? |
