looking for a little more bark out of a rs1 can

Any advice as to removing some packing and cutting out a portion of the perforated baffle to get a little more volume out of my f4i. No power commander here all stock exept for the rs1 stainless slip-on. Will the FI compensate for this? or will I do more harm than good. I was told that the unmodified rs1 can was fine with the stock FI curve. Not looking for anything extreme, maybe cutting 1/5 to 1/3 of the length of the internal perf baffle and half the amount of orginal packing.

Im almost sure you wont affect the performance negatively, I know a ton of ppl that cut half of their cans off and re rivet the caps back on, i have a stocker cut down and shortened the baffles also, welded the cap back on and noticed a little deeper tone no power difference still runs great.

May want to consider going w/a race baffled pipe or see if you can get different guts for your can

Do all factory headpipes have internal perforated baffles at the collector? I had an old fz600 and I cut out a flap and pulled all of the perf screen out and welded it back up with a TIG. Basically a race type header from what I was told. Contemplating the same on my f4i.

obtw: do I need to drill out all the rivets at the inlet of the can as well? I drilled out the rivets at the end cap and it don't budge. My old fz had a vance & hines can which used buttonhead cap screws. It slid out EZ!
