99 F4 petcock positions

Hey FBO'ers.

So through a series of gas-outages, I have learned two things:
1. My fuel reserve light is blown
2. I have no idea which positions on my fuel petcock are the right ones.

So here is my question: Of the three positions on my fuel petcock, which is "ON", and which is "RESERVE"?

I don't have an owners manual, so I have no frame of reference and my local shop wasn't of much help.

Here is what I do know: The 3/9 o'clock position (depending on your orientation) is "OFF."
12 o'clock says "ON" and the 6 o'clock positon also says "ON." Which one is which??

Thanks for all the help!!

Great! Now are you sure about this? I am running it right now in the 6o'clock position which runs me out of gas, but on fill up, I only put in about 3.6 gallons and I know the tank is just over 4.5 gallons.

Re: 99 F4 petcock positions

that's how it is on my F3 and it was the same on my CR250. i would think they would be the same. one side is more tapered right, and it only turns from 6-12 clock wise, with the taperd side on the left?

Re: 99 F4 petcock positions

Thanks for the help. I guess the only way to truly know is to go out and check 'er out. It's supposed to be 60+ today, so no better time!

Should there be anyone else out there in FBO-land that knows definitively, I would love to know.
