carburator/starting problem on F4??

Im a newbie to this site, been riding for a few years now.
So I bought a second hand '00 F4 about a month ago, (all stock 9K miles) and i decided to do some maintenance before the summer....
I changed the oil and the air filter....however since the air filter was unbelievably filthy i tought it be a good idea to clean the carbs a bit too....
I sparyed some carb cleaner into each one....reved up the engine and put everything back together..... the bike ran fine.
The next day i couldnt get it to stay running (cold start) for more than 4-5 seconds. seems like the choke doesnt really "choke" ie the bike starts but the rpms dont go up (stay between 1-1.5K) and then it dies.. any suggestions??? did i just screw my carbs up really bad/??
Thank you for any input...
i dont have a manual wondering what i can do/adjust to fix this....

if it ran ok "while it was warm" perhaps it is something to do with the choke cable??

perhaps you didnt reconnect when servicing?

Re: carburator/starting problem on F4??

yeah youre right!! my dumb A$$ didng check the peacock valve on the tank back to the on position...no wonder it didnt run..... it purrs like a kitten now!
Going back to the carb cleaning..does anyone use any gas additives or seafoam in the tank to clean the carbs? i've heard of cruiser guys that ran straight seafoam in the fuel tank to maximize cleaning/performance. Just wondering if i could hurt the seals that way or etc....
