| TITLE REBUILT QUESTION HELP PLS Heres the deal, I had a 99 F4 that I am in the process of trading for an 03 CBR 600 RR. The person I am trading with is a friend of mine and the title on the RR is a "rebuilt" title. Everything looks and feels great so I know its not bent or blown motor or anything like that but I want to know what I should expect down the road trying to resell this with a rebuilt title. If anyone has any knowledge of this pls let me know. The bike was previously titled in WA. and I live in WI now.
One other wierd thing is the bike Odometer reads just under 9000 miles, the title reades 43,000 and says NOT ACTUAL instead of ACTUAL. Should this be something I can get changed as a typo possibly? Its all digital of course so its not like someone rolled UP the numbers lol.
Anything will help so just throw something out there if you have it. |

| Re: TITLE REBUILT QUESTION HELP PLS Well, I don't know if you're financing it, but I know some banks won't finance a bike with a rebuilt title. Also, on the mileage issue...Is the odometer the original part? If the electronics were replaced at some point I would think that that could read incorrectly. I also doubt that you can have the title changed from reading Not Actual to Actual. It'd be tough to prove to the DMV that it was accurate. |

| Re: TITLE REBUILT QUESTION HELP PLS I am not doing any financing on it, and I am pretty darn sure the odometer has been replaced by a new unit. It is possible but verry doubtfull. The bike is all stock except for the exhaust. The person I am buying from was not very smart and could have wrote it wrong on the title and just never double checked it. The bike is to good condition to have 43000 miles theres no way. Its obviously a typo. I would probably have to have it checked out by the state patrol people which would cost me about 80 bucks to prove but its worth it. I wish my friend wasnt so stupid haha. Oh well we'll see. I'll keep ya posted on what happens. |

| Re: TITLE REBUILT QUESTION HELP PLS Want to change the mileage? just get new gauge on ebay and swap it with the original. Obviously we can't gauge the situtation by not knowing the person or the bike, but something smells fishy to me. If it has a rebuilt title, that means the bike was pretty trashed at some point. It probably has new plastics which instantly make the bike "look" good.
From what little I've heard, I would not buy that bike. |

| Re: TITLE REBUILT QUESTION HELP PLS No its not like that the bike has no damage to the frame or swingarm or the rest of the bike for that matter. the guy im buying it from bought it off ebay from washington and shipped it here to wisconsin. The bike runs perfect no wobbles at all i took it past 100 mph even. No leaks anywhere, and the milage was just wrote in wrong on the new title. It was supposed to be 4300 not 43000 like it reads now, and the guy who wrote that isnt very smart and never got it changed. I would like to see someone who has an 03 RR w/ 43000 miles on it that runs this strong still. I doubt anyone even has that many miles on an 03 and is still in one peice.
Basically I have the feeling that it had some cosmetic damage at one point where it had to be repaired and was branded rebuilt once it was fixed. and the mileage was a mistake typo. I am going to go ahead and buy it because im getting a great deal on it from my friend so theres no point in turning it down cuz of a typo and a small accident, when everything works perfect right now. |

| Re: TITLE REBUILT QUESTION HELP PLS I would go for it. I just bought a bike w/ a salvage title. I rebuilt it myself and everything has been great so far. The only reason it has a salvage title is it had a small hairline crack in the frame. I had a welding shop grind out where it was cracked, heliarc it and everything has been fine. I check it before i ride...but i am pretty comfortable with it. If it is that good of a deal you should be alright. The mileage may never be able to change...i doubt you could do anything with that. I would call someone from the BMV and see. |

| Re: TITLE REBUILT QUESTION HELP PLS I've been told if there is even a scratch in the powdercoat on a frame insurance companies will most likely total it out due to the price of a new fram and labor to swap it. |

| Re: TITLE REBUILT QUESTION HELP PLS yeah thats what im thinking about the insurance company and the frame and all. Thanks for backin me up on this guys its making me feel comfortable with buying this now.
I asked a friend about the miles and he said his had a typo on it as well and he just went to the dmv and wrote in the actual milage and it was all good. so hopefully that is what will happen here. if not oh well i guess. |

| Re: TITLE REBUILT QUESTION HELP PLS I have bought two "salvaged" bikes and they have both been great bikes. Both were totalled by the insurance company because of fairing damage from low-siders.
Look it over well and go with your instinct. If you are worried about re-selling, the people who know bikes will not worry about a salvaged title. One that I currently own once had a salvaged title, but somehow does not anymore. I think that the DMV lady never asked and didn't look at it when we were transferring it to my name. It had had an inspection so it doesn't seem salvaged to me anymore. |
