trouble shifting 2004 cbr 600 f4i...

i have a 2004 cbr 600 f4i with 5400 miles on it. today i had something happen that has only happened one other time. i was coming to a stop and was down shifting to first but could not get it into first. i tried to go back up and back down but still could not get to first. i ended up pulling over and kept trying and finally it went in. i am very easy on my bike and do nothing radical so i am trying to figure out what could have caused this. it was fine again the rest of the way home just like it was fine after the other time time that that happened about a year ago. what could cause this to do this? is this something that is common from time to time? any help will be appreciated.

try to put into first, with a little pressure on the shifter, and "find clutch point"

it should snick in a treat!
