Help - F4i Running Rich

ok so i bought my 02 600 f4i a month ago. i just replaced the plugs, and i have a erion exhaust on it. it runs good, but its running too rich. it flutters and pops when i rev it over 5000 rpms. a local dealer told me i need a power commander, but it seems to me a problem like this would have been taken care of by the previous owner. can anyone think of anything else it could be?
help!

It's fuel injected and the air to fuel ratio is off so you need to drop $300 on a power commander and have it remapped. Thats all you can do bro besides deal with it.

If its the full exhaust system then yep you need that PCIII. previous owner may not have cared about the popping

Re: Help - F4i Running Rich

its only a slip on though, i was thinking of maybe puting a k&n air filter on it to open it up a lil more, do you think that would help?

Re: Help - F4i Running Rich

You'll still need the power commander. The ECM controls how much fuel to send to the cyclinders. So either a mod was done to affect that, or the ECM is bad. Either scenario, you should get the power commander.

Re: Help - F4i Running Rich

Correct me if I'm wrong (most likely) but I was under the impression that most stock bikes FI is set up on the lean side to help pass emissions tests.

It seems that a slipon would only result in an even more lean situation.
