Please Help! CBR600F4I Flooding

I have a 2002 F4I with only 2200 miles on it. As you can see it is not ridden much. Went for a ride and it started hesitating and was blowing out smoke.(blueish it think) It was burning through a tank of gas in like 7 miles, then when I stopped it cut off and could not get it started again. Had it towed home. I found the oil was full of gas, after sitting for a while it would start again, but run like crap and keep shutting off. I pulled the plugs and all seemed evenly fouled (smelled like gas) and were black- I pulled the injector rail and cranked it, all 4 seem to spritz fuel evenly ( non seemed stuck opened) - I cleaned the plugs and put them back in, ran the bike for a few minuites and pulled the plugs out, black and smelled like gas...any suggestions on what to try next or what is causing this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Charles

Re: Please Help! CBR600F4I Flooding

I will see if I can get a manual to find out how the choke works. It would seem to me that the choke is staying on.
I have found a manual but it will take two hours to down and I will get back to you.

Paddy.

Re: Please Help! CBR600F4I Flooding

Sounds to me like you have a severe leaking problem in one the cylinders. Oil being burnt and gas making it into the oil would indicate either the rings are completely worn or one (or more) of your pistons has a hole in it.

Re: Please Help! CBR600F4I Flooding

When you start a FI bike it runs rich for the choke.I think it works off a heat
sensor so if the heat sensor malfunctioned then the bike would run rich all
the time.
I will have a look into it to get the exact info.

I have seen a few bikes that this happened to but they were carbed bikes and
the pistons and rings were fine.
Once the flooding was sorted out and the oil and filter was changed they ran
as they should.

Hey...it's hard keeping up with every post here! Fuel in the oil means it's getting past the rings...

Get a manual and start troubleshooting.

Re: Please Help! CBR600F4I Flooding

It does have a choke, but because it's an FI model it has an automatic choke. If the choke was stuck on and you ran the bike that way for a prolonged period of time, it's possible that you may have fried the piston rings.

Re: Please Help! CBR600F4I Flooding

The first thing I would check is if your starter valves are sticking open.
Can you check if you can see the back of the inlet from the left side of the engine where the tickover adjuster is.

Re: Please Help! CBR600F4I Flooding

I have a 01 CBR 600 F4I with the exact same problem.
The bike runs fine for about 5 minutes and then it stalls out everytime i get to a stop light. The bike runs real rich.
Let me know what you figure out
Thanks
