Guys, riding my 2002 f4i with only 7500 miles into work tonight I just heard a loud ticking noise when I let off the gas around 7000rpm down to 6000rpm It doesn't seem to slow with the motor revs so I'm thinking that can't be the cam chain noise that I am hearing about. I only hear it when I let off the gas, not when holding a steady speed. It's not associated with applying the front brakes either. I just got the bike a couple of months ago and it just started tonight. Checked oil level when I got to work and it is fine. To make matters worse I have the bike for sale cause my OT at work ended so bills are piling up & I can't afford to spend a load on a fix, but I can't sell a bum bike either.

this may sound like a dumb question, but its not your chain making noise is it?

I rode next to a friend with a worn and out of adjusted chain that makes the same noise you are describing.....check that first.
