| Aftermarket Plastics, Need Help. Has anyone seen these aftermarket kits on Ebay? I was wondering if the quality of the plastic and the look of them were as good as the ones you order from Honda. I wrecked my bike and only really need the side fairings but I saw these kits and figured if they are good quality and dont look cheap I would just replace all the plastics on my bike. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated cuz I dont want a shitty lookin bike. Thanks
Ps. here is a link to look at the kits.

| Re: Aftermarket Plastics, Need Help. nope, but I`d like to hear if it works okay crashed my bike myself and need new plastic. Have anyone in this forum changed their tail from double seat (one large sadle), to two seats? Does the plastic fit the frame or do I need to change it as well..?

| Re: Aftermarket Plastics, Need Help. There's a guy here in town that turned his 2005 CBR 600RR into a Repsol with an aftermarket kit like the one you are looking at. Got the plastics off of Ebay from some company in Japan that made a complete set of plastics for a 600, to match a 1000RR Repsol. In all honesty, they looked pretty damn good. Not OEM quality, but pretty close. He said that the only issue he had was that some of the holes didn't line up, and he had to bend the pieces to get them to fit. (Hell, I had to do that the first time I changed my oil putting the OEM pieces back on...) From 5 feet away, you couldn't tell any diffrence. |

| Re: Aftermarket Plastics, Need Help. Thanks, yea the gas tank is actually half the size of that cover, the air box and computer is under there too. I dont know if Im gonna get the Repsol or jus go back with Black like it was. But thanks for the information, sounds like they're good enough for the money I will save from buying the oem from honda. Ill let yall kno how they are soon as I get em. |

| Re: Aftermarket Plastics, Need Help. So they're good from a far but far from good?
I'm looking at getting the whole kit for my blade from one of the Hong Kong mobs but have a bit of doubt as to the mould quality and also the paint quality. Is it orange peel galore? Do the plastics fit snugly around the headlamp or is it a dog's breakfast? They go fairly cheap so seem economical but I don't want to waste the cash on a vastly inferior product. |

| Re: Aftermarket Plastics, Need Help. Check out this "One - Off" composite body set. A buddy from another forum made this set and about 3 others. He does it as a hobby and no he won't do it for free or cheap. lol. Give him about $3,000 and he would probably make one for your bike.
If nothing else their sweet to look at His stuff fits absolutely great, judging by the photos. The photos are copyrighted. |

| Re: Aftermarket Plastics, Need Help. Well I heard too much negative bout the ebay special. So I ordered plastics from Honda today, ran me bout 1400. Good thing is its gonna fit exact bad thing it was 1400 instead of 250 but oh well you pay for what you get... |

| Re: Aftermarket Plastics, Need Help. Not bad, not bad I personally have to disagree that abs is "not cheap like other's fiberglass". I make composite parts out of glass and carbon fiber. It all comes down to who makes the part and what care they took making the molds and the actuall fiberglass or carbon parts. I have heard several stories about poor fitting fiberglass parts from well known makers like Cheetah and a couple others. The problem there is probably due to crappy molds and cheap resin.
But for $900 if this set bolts up as good as it looks, then that's a good deal. |
