What Tires for my 96 F3?

So it's about that time and I need to purchase some new tires. The rear tire looks like it has some miles on it but the front is ready now. I've heard its best to change both at the same time so thats what I'm doing.

I do occasional track days (1/4M drag) but mostly I go for pleasure rides and daily commutes. I live in Oregon so I get a lot of variety of road and weather to ride in. I'm also plan on taking some track riding classes. SoooOOo...... What tires do you guys recommend?

I have Pirelli Diablo's on right now. I think my next set will be some Pilot Power's.

The Pilot Powers have aggressive dry and decent wet traction and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I've been through two sets of rears and one front in 6,000 miles which is typical of any sport tire. The Battle Axe dual compound is supposed to give equal results but slightly longer treadlife on the F2/F3... I just got them - so far so good.

Excellent suggestions thank you. So from your story it sounds like you don't replace both your tires at the same time. Does that cause any concerns?

Re: What Tires for my 96 F3?

I guess I should have clarified on mine. Yes, its a very good idea to match tires and not mix them unless you have statistics to work from for pairing up odd balls (race team). I usually go through two rears per front tire but always match them (except one day I ran a dunlop 207 front and pilot power rear... bad bad feel!).
