Need help with 99 Honda CBR 600 F4

Hi guys,
I am new to riding and i got a 99 cbr 600 about 2 months back...i rid it for about a week.
then after that i dint get time to ride... about 10 days back i tried to start it but i guess the battery was dead ..so it did not start..
after charging the battery the bike started without any problem.
THE PROBLEM:
As soon as i change a gear from Neutral to first or second directly the engine stops... this is without even leaving the clutch..its not that im leaving the clutch too early since the engine stops even before i leave the clutch...
however if i leave the bike on neutral it does not stop and even when i rev it the engine is very responsive...
Can any one please let me know problem i am facing? has it got something to do with spark plugs???
PLEASEEEE HELP GUYS

Vik

Re: Need help with 99 Honda CBR 600 F4

You need to test the switch. Disconnect and check for continuity. It's a fairly common problem...

Re: Need help with 99 Honda CBR 600 F4

You need to disconnect the side stand switch connector and check for continuity at the connection. I'm not sure where it's located on an F4 but just follow the wire from the side stand. If you're not sure how to test for continuity read this:

Home Electrical Guide: How To Test for Continuity - ACME HOW TO.com

There should be continuity only when the side stand is raised. Hope this helps...
