| Riders who start off with a 600 This thread is to any rider who first start out riding a 600. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or just getting back into riding or if you are an experienced rider. Just feel free to drop a line. You can describe your bike. The year, any modifications, what so ever. Also, should a beginner start off riding a 600 or 250. Please show your bike so everyone can see how you tear the streets. |

| Re: Riders who start off with a 600 f3 600 for me. put 5000 miles i one season, then sold it at the end of riding season. then bought my 04 1000rr, the f3 didnt "fit" me. im 6'1 and i felt like shaq on that bike. now my liter bike, i fit perfectly on it. plus the f3's power was a freaking joke. i grew out of that bike rather quickly. so i upgraded to this bike. which i now track as well. but will soon buy a 600rr only for the track. i want something a little more flickable at the track. |

| Re: Riders who start off with a 600 I started my sport bike riding with an 03 600RR and with hindsight I wish I would have started on an SV650. I feel that way because I spend most of my time riding on the track and know I would have learned more on a bike with less power. Mods:
Arata full exhaust with PCIII
Ohlins rear shock
Scotts damper
Woodcraft frame sliders
Vortex rearsets
Galfer braided lines
520 conversion (-1/+2)
Speedo Healer
Catalyst Racing Composites plastics
Carbon fiber front sprocket cover

| My 1st bike was a GPz550 and after a 13yr Hiatus after an accident with that bike I got a 01' sv650s. It was a good bike to get re-introduced to the sport again. |

| Re: Riders who start off with a 600 I hadn't ridden a street bike in over twenty years. Last bike was a yamaha 400 LTD or something like that. Man I dont remember that bike being as manuverable as this one whoa LOL. I have been riding dirtbikes and decided to get back out on the street and I am glad I restarted with this 600 it is a lot of fun |

| Re: Riders who start off with a 600 The first bike that I actually "owned" and "registered" all on my own was my 600. However, I got my endorsement 12 years before that. I rode a lot of bikes before the 600. I progressed from KX80, Honda 100, KX100, RM125, KDX250, CR250, finally to an FZR600 all before buying my F4i. So I feel like I was adequately prepared for the bike. I didn't just decide I wanted a bike one day and go buy a 600.

| Re: Riders who start off with a 600 I started out on a 92 CBR600 F2. I loved it. I had my first low side with the F2. I put 10000 miles on it in one season. But the season is extra long here in AZ. I had K&N filters and a full Two Bro's exhaust. I did my first wheelie on that bike. I sold it at the beginning of this year, proceeded to cry about not having a bike and oogling every one I saw on the street, then bought my 06 1000RR in march. And I've got 9700 miles on this one already. Big difference from 85 horses to 155. But I miss my F2. Probably gonna buy another at some point. I think newbies should start out on 600's. 250's get boring very quickly from what I hear. |

I actually took that bike to maryland and boston. I bought the bike in 2001. After a year and a couple years I got the 03 954 that was a machine and recently just purchased an 07 1000rr. |

I wouldn't change the way I did it either, starting off on a low power bike is the way to go, I don't care who you are, you can take your time to learn the ways of the force without the temptation your right hand... |

| Re: Riders who start off with a 600 My first sportbike was a 1990 FZR 600, I had that for about 2 years. I then graduated to a '94 F2. Had that for about 3 years. Then moved up to my 2000 929, and finally got my 03 954 which I love to death. I think a 600 is a decent bike to start on. You just have to have respect for the throttle. |

Moved on to a 1989 Kawasaki ZX600 - Rode it for 4 months and sold it.
Moved on to a 1997 Gixxer 600(sorry) - Rode it for 6 months and sold it.
Bought my 2001 929rr and will not buy another bike until I absolutely have to. |

| Re: Riders who start off with a 600 I started on a MiniTrail by taking off on kickstand and grabbing a tree to stop
A modern 600 is still stupid fast and quick handling not something I recommend for a beginner.
Coming from the dirt world (ancient) the biggest things I needed to adapt to was much more front brake use and the front getting loose not being a prelude to a crash.
Currently my road bike is a '04 1000RR with a '84 Ascot backup (both stock) and the track bike is an '02 RC51 (fair amount of mods)

| Re: Riders who start off with a 600 Started on a 1983 YZ125 till it decided to fall off a 60' cliff
Got a seca 750 rode it for a summer got rid of it
Bought a 1980 CB750F rode it for a couple of years, still have it now
Bought a 954, rode it for 2 years, till it thought it was an airplane. The landing gear needs some work.
Now i ride Track Only with a 2005 GSXR 600, many mods.
As far as which bike to start out on......that depends on the person and their abilities as well as attitude. Some people I would not suggest they even be on 2 wheels. |

SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH. | Says it all for me...
If your an absolute starter I would suggest a sports 250. The new Ninja is a good machine to be on. Don't even go close to the Hyosung. The old CBR2500rr, ZX2R and FZR250 are good machines if you can get one in good shape. Alternatively Vtwin 650 are great machines to ride. gentle on the power curve and very forgiving for new riders. I would never hand in inline 600, 100+ hp machine to a newbee unless I see you ride like pedrsoa or stoner on your pee wee... Once you get some ks under your belt, I think you will be in a better position to decide for yourself.
For me... been riding for 22 years. Started with a 50cc when I was 8. Been there done that.. this is my story.
First big bike, Started on a '96 ZX7R .. too big.. too heavy
Jumped to a FZR1000.. bloody freaken beast. Nearly killed myself on it.
Stepped down to the 97 Fireblade, Beastly machine in a small chicks body. Freaken used to fly like a bullet. Light and Fast but heavy on the corners with the bridgy.
Then came the 04 CBR600rr...with Pilot Powers. Did not like the 400click striaght ride from the seller.. but then I got to the mountains ... and its history since then. This is the bike for me. Gently under the 7-8k revs, killing machine above 10k. Whoever said that R6 was a better machine, I beg to differ. This is the ultimate supersport.
Micron Pipes, modified ignition timing and fuel injection. 0-100 in 4.3secs. |

| Re: Riders who start off with a 600 Started in 98 with a 96 CBR600F3 with the yellow and purple Smoking Joe replica colors. Bought it used with about 9K miles on it.
That being said, I think I would be a better rider today, or would have gotten to my current skill level a lot faster, had I started on a 250 to start with. |

| Re: Riders who start off with a 600 here's the simple answer. it's not the capacity of your bike fools but rather the capacity of your brain. ride the bike you feel comfy with and that you can truly exploit. pointless riding a 1000 when you're only getting 60% of it's true ability. leave the braaging rights to all those egomaniacs out there. today's 600's are more than enough. change your thoughts, change your life. |

| Re: Riders who start off with a 600 hello. Passed bike test, took train to London, jumped on back of mates fireblade at the station (ealing) went to pick up cbr600. Lunch at the Ace cafe. Rode 130 miles home to Wales as a popsicle in cold winter conditions.
I love it! At low revvs it is great fun. Once 8 or 9 k comes around it gets a bit scary for me. I let it run around to the red in second the other day while overtaking on a minor road. Red line in second..can't be too bad surely...almost shat myself when noticed that the speedo now read over 110mph! Takes a bit of discipline not to let a Honda engine do what it was born to do, but other than that I think it is a perfect first bike for guy in his thirties. Maybe I would have more fun riding the S&&& out of a less powerful bike but I have always loved vehicles that I have to hold back |
