Help needed with a 91 cbr600F2

Having trouble getting the bike started but once it does start, rarely, it runs just fine. I'm trying to help out a fellow rider with it and searching for some suggestions please. The cabs were just over worked at a local shop so don't think it is carb related. Also has new plugs.

Have you verified that the fuel pump pressurizes the carb bowls enough for start-up? Is the choke cable connected properly and operational at the carbs?

Re: Help needed with a 91 cbr600F2

Check your idle adjustment and make sure its not too low.

Did this problem exist immediately after the carb rebuild or only recently?

Does the battery die before it starts? If so, it could just be not enough juice to get it started.

The F2 likes to have the choke half way on for a cold start, sometimes a bit more.

The F2 has a vacuum line from the left carb to the petcock which shuts fuel off automatically, regardless of the on/reserve petcock position. If the bike sat for a while (3 weeks) the fuel in the bowls could have evaporated and left gas resin plugging the idle and pilot jet holes (more common than you think, holes are needle tip small). This requires the carbs to be cleaned out again.
